NASCAR has suspended a Sprint Cup driver under terms of its substance abuse policy - immediately and indefinitely - in advance of Saturday nightís race at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway, ThatsRacin.com and The Charlotte Observer have learned.

Sources said the driver, who has not been identified by officials, was found to have violated Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and 7-5 (violation of the NASCAR substance abuse policy) of the 2009 NASCAR rule book. The determination was based on findings at last weekendís race at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway.

NASCAR on Saturday declined to discuss the matter, saying that questions would be dealt with in a news conference at the South Carolina track on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Such a suspension would be the first under NASCARís drug policies for a driver at the top level, the Spring Cup Series.

go to my post on page 27....it has nothing to do with it being "Mayfield". That is irrelevant. It is about Nascars ability and integrity to effectively run their sport. They HAVE to win this now after how they handled this mess after the initial positive test (whihc they were right in initially suspending him).

Where they potentially Effed up is in the handling of the B sample and then the blanket denial that it was 100% impossible for Aegis and Dr. Black to make the error or have a false positive result from the claritin and adderall.

But I also acknowledge Mayfeild could be conducting the NY Philharmonic on us...lol..but this would be the greatest poker face I have ever seen in the public arena with something of such grave magnitude.
I know what you're saying, and I acknowledge that he may be scamming the whole world, but the evidence against him is very shaky.

- The first test was not handled well, to the extent that a judge sided with Jeremy to get him reinstated.

- The second test was performed by the same lab (Aegis) as the first one. If they F'd up the first test, I'd have no confidence in them with the second, especially since Aegis and it's owner, Dr. Black, are defendants in the lawsuit Jeremy started. There should have been an independent lab used for the second test.

- The "B" sample of the second test is being held by Aegis, and they refused to release it to a lab that Jeremy wanted to test it. Why wouldn't they let it be tested in an independent lab?

- Jeremy's own tests all show negative for meth, at least according to his statements. These will come out in court, so I suspect his lawyer would prevent him from making these statements if they were false. This will be very telling once the case makes it to court.

- The stepmom has a history of trying to get money from Mayfield. In one of the interviews Jeremy says that she had a boyfriend move into Jeremy's dad's house two days after the dad died. This does not sound like a caring wife and stepmother. Also, as pointed out on another blog I read recently, the timeframe she claims she saw him use (at leat 30 times between 1998 and 2005) is when Jeremy did his best driving in NASCAR: 5 wins, top 10 in championship points three times, in the chase twice. If she's right, then maybe some other drivers should start using meth! lol

40 minutes of interviews in those two tapes I linked to here, and his story remained consistent. Druggy's may be able to be very persuasive, but liars always slip up on details and he just sounds to genuine and consistent to me.
Very good points Alan. If Jeremy is clean, he should try to get the World Anti-Doping Agency involved to collect and split samples. Send one to Aegis and the other to a WADA accredited laboratory with a B sample to yet another WADA lab. If the Aegis test comes back dirty and the WADA tests are clean then NASCAR is screwed.

Just the fact that Dr. David Black, who oversees NASCAR's drug-testing program, and is also the founder and president of Aegis Sciences Corp. were the testing is performed, is not only a conflict of interest, but it's just plain fishy.....as in someone has their hand in someone's pocket.
NASCAR just makes me sick i dont see anyway Jeremy did drugs. He is a good man of faith, husband and dont forget he is an owner/driver as well. He is going through so much right now, and Nascar being the big Dumba$$es they are got to keep picking on the smaller teams! They can do that because they dont have the fans, money, and sponsor support as the big teams do. When Nascar does the things they do to Mayfield, Carl Long, and others not many people care. But yet if this where Dale Jr, Jeff Gordon, or Kyle Busch. This would of been dropped long ago.
No, not the same car. Let the manufactures produce the car the folks race. Let the teams have the leeway to engineer the best car using the latest technology. Let competition rule. The sanctioning body should still regulate safety. Get away from managed competition.
Maybe his stepmother should be tested too.
seems to me like the Court should step in and take that B sample aegis is holding and send it to get tested at a Lab of the Courts picking...not Nascar's picking, not Mayfields picking....then rule based upon what their Lab finds...

At First I thought Mayfiled was guilty, but his camp is doing a good job of providing "reasonable doubt" about NASCAR's procedure......I just don't know what to think other than...damn...what a circus all over 5 ounces of piss.......

The thing that seems REALLY funny to me...AEGIS seems pretty determined to not let just any lab test that B sample...seems to me if they were confident they had dirty piss...they would be willing to send off that B sample to let another lab agree with their 100% sure findings..I mean if meth's in the pee...it's in the pee......I dont know much about the testing, my understanding based upon conversations with people that do, is that with the right equipment they should be able to seperate the adderal and claritan and make a determination if Meth is present..........

Regardless..both sides come come out loosers.......This ended Mayfields career and once again NASCAR is showing they will do when what why how while beating their chest's.......I think everyday ordinary Joe schmos like me are about sick and tired of their chest thumping hollier than thou menatality
In a radio report I heard the other day, Jeremy was quoting as saying he "doesn't trust Nascar, never has, and never will." Then (a) why is he trying so hard to get back in? and (b) how can he possibly have an ounce of success even if he does get back in? Nascar will NEVER let him have a moment's peace. Personally, I hope he does make it back, not because I am a Mayfield fan (I'm not) but because Nascar will have someone to kick around besides Robby. LOL.
If you look at it through clear glass, the way gramma told us to be in life, the way the wholesomeness of life should not be altered by false witness, the way what right in the world is right and what wrong is wrong, NASCAR may very well be the most twisted dishonest organization on EARTH. I use Coo Coo Marlin being blackflaged for not having all lug nuts on while being on the doorstep of winning the Daytona 500 as my bookmark...always. Yet I believe as a child hiding on the staircase on Christmas eve, as a child looking for a basket some satanic rabbit left, as a child who waits for his birthday cake...I wait and I believe that all is right with the world. Yet I am the same child who watched his father race at the local short track as an underfunded go it alone team who got the shaft repeatedly. I saw threw my uncles grumblings how racing was bias, 9 uncles my father had 9 brothers who could not get it all together other than to agree that the shaft was always waiting behind the closed doors. So why not racing at the top level? I say the world is watching a magician at work and it is called NASCAR. As of late magicians have been tattle- tailed, exposed and betrayed by thier own. If you are truely inocent Jeremy Methfield then let the end of the world begin. Then again dignity is held best in scilence, cash in and lets watch Hendrick rule the day. NASCARs' cash cow.

Someone stole my identity, I feel like a new man.
Mayfield admitted he knows his racing career is over no matter what the outcome (I saw the Fox interview)..... he says he will "move on to other things".

I don't like being duped, so I'm staying safely on the fence. However, my head and heart are in agreement that Jeremy is fighting for his integrity at this point. If I were innocent, someone accused me of something that cost me my lifestyle, career, etc., I'd go down fighting to clear my name. We're a fairly forgiving society - America has been worshipping an accused child molester for the last couple of weeks - Jeremy could "accept" the meth-use label, kiss NA$CRAP's A$$ and move on with his life..... but his fight has me wanting to believe his innocence.... but I will remain safely on the fence for now. ;) I like the view.
i see you found the spot on the fence I had been saving for you..lol...
There's a much better view from the fence than on either side. I'm appreciating that more and more the older and more mommylike I become. ;) It's particularly interesting when it comes to politics.
