Not Robby, nor racing, but Mr. Cronkite defined news broadcasting as I was growing up. A very great man, who will be missed. We need more like him.

I liked him so much more than Dan Rather. He just delivered the story straight and without bias. When Walter gave a news story he did so without trying to promote himself.
Wow, another one of the great ones is gone! RIP, Walter, we will miss you!
And that's the way it is: Friday, July 17, 2009.

RIP Mr. Cronkite. You were the best.
There will NEVER be another like him! They broke the mold!! RIP my friend!!!
He should get more media attention than MJ, sad that he won't. A good example of what is wrong with the world and people
My grandfather and I had a nightly ritual of watching the CBS Evening News when I was a kid. I think Walter played a big part in why I have such a love for history. He brought it right to your living room. No sensationalism, sarcasm, or gimmicks. He just told you, "the way it was". He will be remembered fondly.
Walter once noted that Errol Flynn died on a 70' sailboat with a 17 year old girl. Walter's wife said he would have to settle for a 17'sailboat and a 70 year old woman.

RIP Walter Cronkite, fellow sailor
Today's news anchors should take a page out of his book. I remember seeing a video of him(a few years ago) reporting about JFK in Dallas. He started to lose it but still managed to maintain his composure and professionalism. R.I.P. Mr. Cronkite!
And that's the way it was.........
