After a ton of rumors and possible defectors, it appears many of the possible rumors turned out to be nothing more (Thanks to under contracts).

Harvick & Shell will stay put at RCR
Kenseth will stay at Roush with Crown Royal (no suprise)
McMurray will likely end up in the #1 Bass Pro Shops Chevy at EGR (again no suprise)
Menard will stay at Yates (another contract keeper)
Red Bull will keep it's lineup and possibly switch to Chevy (no suprise if it happens)

The only news of the year was Truex bolting to MWR ( that rumor had been going for a long time)

Next year will be the year...the following drivers have contracts that end in 2010:

Kevin Harvick (& Shell)
Kasey Khane
Mark Martin
David Ragan
Denny Hamlin
Kyle Busch
Elliott Sadler
Jeff Burton
AJ Allmendinger
Jimmie Johnson
Paul Menard

Expect lots of news in 2010....and lots of big time moves.

2010 : Kevin KHI ? Kane takes Bud with him to SHR or no Bud and to hendrick 5 Mark hangs it up never to win a championship :( Ragan signs back at Roush after first cup win in 2010(rain), Hamlin sticks with JGR Ford out. Kyle stays in the 18 limiting other series starts and focuses on cup. Elliot to nationwide fulltime. Burton sticks with Rcr for another four years . Allmendinger moves over to the 19 or keeps 44 becomes RPM poster child, Johnson stays put as JGordon prepares to retire.Menard to RGM as second effort .Robby makes chase
most likely things will be out in the open but shocking. Hopefully the econ turns around ......for all r sakes
P.S.
Saturn enters as a manufacture
chase opened to fifteen cars along with new fuel millage and start and park rules
Interesting. The Nostradamus school of predictions - make enough of them, and a few are bound to come true! LOL
Wow most of that makes sense. I just don't see Kahne leaving RPM...they pay him the big bucks and he's a star there. They'll get their stuff together this off-season and be back better than ever.
Didn't Penskie buy Saturn
Yes he did. However, the cars themselves will continue to be made by GM and the company will effectively be running the same for the next 3 years. The only changes we would see would be things like becoming a NASCAR manufacturer, like brewski said, since GM doesn't hold the reins anymore, they are only under contract to build the cars in essence.
The saturn Aura sedan is based on the Malibu platform. essentially Penske could use his racing efforts for "free" advertising,= tax write offs ....or stay with Dodge showing support for a competing brand for no cash..Lets do the math? He could maybe run a Chevy block with some Saturn tweaks . imo the hold up in entering the fray is r&d for the engine, well that and trying to rebuild a company and reinventing a brand. tho A trip to nascar could knock the doilies off of grandma's back seat.
Hopefully sadler is done in cup. He hasn't done much but fill fields for the last three years, hopefully the sponsors will have had enough of him. RPM should've bit the bullet and terminated him before the season. He cna join his idiot brother in the booth, along with DW & MW... creating a whole new pack of listeners for nascar radio.
They did...but he sued them and he got his ride back....
interesting is to see if Jim Beam sticks around as now Crown is staying put. The rumors around were that all three beam crown and jack might bolt as the economy would be the perfect excuse to say it is just not worth it...
I had read a while ago that liquor, wine, and beer companies are doing the best in the current economy. I'm not sure if that holds true, or justifies NASCAR sponsorship, but it does make a kind of sense.
OK.. well I have no Flippin' clue! but here is my perspective or opinion... whatever you want to call it...
Jim Beam likes Robby Gordon and what he stands for..
Jim Beam would have to totally change thier marketing stratagy if they did leave RGM.. (as in the "stuff that inside campaign. )
I'm willing to bet that RGM & JB make year to year contracts accordingly.. as in.. RGM says i have this much marketability and JB says we only have this many dollars to spend on you this year for marketing.. therefore an agreement is ment on sponsership for the year.
I'm also willing to bet!!!!!! if RGM and turn out a top 15 in the points type year.. (as in challenging to get into the chase) JB might be willing to pick up a full year sponsership deal with RGM.

like i said.. I don't know diddly, because i don't have a clue.. but i think i have some good observations.
and then:

RPM downsizing? Sorenson out? Rumors persist that Richard Petty Motorsports will shrink to three cars in the next few weeks, with A.J. Allmendinger moving to the #43 Dodge, replacing Reed Sorenson, and the #44 team being shut down.(Ford Racing)(7-29-2009)
