Nationwide COT Opinions?

I was just on Jayski's browsing around and saw how the new Nationwide series is going to debute thier new version of the COT. I must say I think this car looks alot better than the car in the CUP series.. at least it has more characteristics of an actual production car.. alot more than a CUP car does.

The Camaro has only been available since April and already outselling the other new ponies. The 'stang in the pic looks hot. Is Dodge running a Challenger? It may work better using a common template cause it sure doesn't handle as well on the street. I was guessing Dodge would be out again by next year but maybe not if they can showcase some muscle.

New GM... but no longer run by car folks. It's now a government entity. The Treasury dept. filled the board with new faces, not a single one with auto background. Decisions are made in D.C., not Detroit. My guess is they'd rather run the Chevy Volt... or maybe that ridiculous PUMA.

actually the decision on the Impala in the Nationwide series was made late last year..while it was being run by car people.

In Nascar? None! I do like the look of the Nationwide(busch, whatever) car though.

I really applaud NASCAR for going a different angle with the new NWS COT. Putting an old school muscle car battle front & center would def get some more eyes on the series. Hopefully GM gets on board with this. Having the Mustang & Challenger on track without Camaro representing Chevy is nearly criminal.

But if they can't make the NWSCOT resemble the real Camaro at all, then I think they are making the right decision. NASCAR needs to facilitate the manufacturers some, if they want the continued support. Give some latitude on the body panels so it's more than just stickers to make the car unique. If that gives an aerodynamic advantage, then that's just the way it is.

true, but theres no doubt that car on the top is a Stang. Not just cuz of the decals on the front either. The whole side of the car has Stang bodylines, plus the quarter window. Now if the engineers at Chevy can't pull off a similar feat... Well then I'm just all that much more disappointed in the company I grew up believing in.

Those "bodylines" on the side panel are either decals, paint, or photoshopped.

I just hope they get them to the point where they can race them before they start running them......THE racing with the COT in cup is killing the series.....

One thing to remember is that the COT was designed to have a common template. Remember the days of crying over the advantages that one mfg had over another and the 1/4 inch here and 1/4 there on the valance and spoiler to make the cars more equal? NASCAR does not want that to happen again. Remember this picture of the Mustang, the COT is not going to look just like that.

And what is this garbage about no road courses?? Is Tony George taking over the Nationwide tour? Look at the German and Aussie V8 Touring series and Grand-AM. I guess that it's not the "roots" of NASCAR short track, but it is darn good racing.
