I know we all look at the "bad luck" and Road Course disasters RGM has had this season and think sitting 34th in points is just awful. Actually, statistically speaking, RGM is having their 2nd best year barely behind their best season in 2006.
In 2006, RGM ran Chevy cars & DEI engines, he had an average starting position of 27th and avergae finish of 25th. This year, RGM has an average starting position of 30th and average finish of 27th. (The average start this year is handicapped by record number qualifying rainouts, and RGM can improve their finish average over the remaining 12 races).
He averaged a starting of 31st and finish of 29th in 2008 with Dodge and in 2007 he average a 34th starting position and average finish of 27th with Ford.
RGM has remained inside the Top 35 the last 2 seasons as a single car operation and one of the few owner/drivers.
RGM is having their 2nd best season with their mechanical issues and struggles with the COT. When the results start showing the way the cars are running, RGM could have their best season ever.
