The sun never sets on Robby Gordon's racing career. Arguably the hardest working man in motor racing, it's not uncommon for Gordon to hammer a fire-breathing, rock and sand-spitting SCORE-International off-road beast through the rough terrain of the Baja Mexico Peninsula then hop on a jet and to fly off to go run a 500-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race less than 24 hours later. In fact, so deft is Gordon amongst the washes, teeth chattering paths, drop-offs and searing sun that all so much a part of off-road racing that he's won six SCORE International off-road class championships. He's also won the Baja 1000 three times (1987, 1989 and 2006). And if that's not enough, in the 2009 Dakar Rally in South America, Gordon finished third in his Monster Energy-backed Hummer.

Robby Gordon also excels in closed-course off-road racing and will prove to slam that very point home this approaching Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6, 2009 when he and his 300-horsepower, 2,800-pound PRO 2WD Chevrolet line up to take part in the 2009 BorgWarner World Championship Off-Road Races at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway.

The Californian has a great–albeit incandescent-history in the sport, taking the measure of world class truck racers Walker Evans and Jack Flannery to win his first World Championship in 1989 as a 20 year-old. The 20th anniversary of his highly impressive win at the "World Capital of Off-Road Racing", Gordon will certainly add verve and excitement in what promises to be one of the most fiercely competitive events in contemporary off-road racing history.

"Walker Evans and Robby Gordon both came out to Crandon in 1989 to run for World Championships and be on ESPN," reflected Jack Flannery of his first encounter with Gordon. "Robby had a fearless, aggressive driving style that he still has today. He just dominated the weekend, took all our Wisconsin purse money and went back to California. Robby is still the youngest racer to ever win a World Championship title at Crandon. He was fast back in 1989 and he will be fast this year. What a treat for TORC and Crandon off-road race fans. I can't wait to watch him in action."

I think they messed up on the horsepower by just a few.
do you think it will be on ESPN like in 1989????
it's live on ABC
oh yeah
Sunday's Amsoil Pro 2WD race is at 10:20AM, whereas ABC's coverage starts at 3PM CST. Hopefully they will have footage of the race during that broadcast. I understand that RG will be running in the Saturday event as well at 5:25PM?? Can anyone confirm this?
We will have coverage of Crandon in the AM next Sunday as the race is going on.
