New Wider Goodyear tire coming, helping with really, really, really, really loose conditions!

Goodyear will soon test a larger tire, 1" wider and 1" taller. This should give the COT more grip. The biggest challenge the COT has had is loose conditions. Speeds have picked up and the tire is behind. Goodyear hope to have everything ready for 2010.

I'd be surprised if they had this new tire ready for 2010. Mainly because the car has to be modified for it. Rousch has been providing a modified car for Goodyears tests.

I could see them doing a phase-in, where a limited number of races at certain tracks use the new tire. This would let the teams change over the cars a few at a time. A bigger tire will be a really good thing in the long run, but it's going to invalidate any setup notes that currently exist. Advantage to the big money teams with more advanced simulation.
I'll call ESPN and let them know they're reporting wrong info....Thanks for setting us straight Cow.
Do ya think this will make Robby really, really, really, really happy? *wink*
It would have been nice if Hendrick Motorsports had not worked on developing the COT with Nascar.
Who said the top teams were'nt testing on real race tracks with real COT's with real drivers?
