Charlotte, NC (October 8, 2009) – Robby Gordon and the No. 7 Jim Beam team return to Gordon’s home state of California to race in the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway this weekend. The race will mark the end of a busy week for Gordon who will make several appearances throughout the weekend. Gordon made a stop earlier this week in Greene County, Missouri to support the funding of DWI Courts on behalf of this weekend’s sponsor, Jim Beam.


Robby’s Remarks – “I always love coming back to California to race,” said Gordon. “There is no better feeling than being in front of my home crowd and being able to put on a good show. With this track being so important to our team, we will be debuting a new race car this weekend. We have put a lot of hard work into this car and the preparation for this weekend, and we can’t wait to hit the track tomorrow.”


California Statistics –Gordon looks to find success at his home track this weekend. In his fourteen starts at Auto Club Speedway, the California native has recorded one top-ten at the 2-mile D-shaped oval. Gordon’s best finish of 9th came in just his fifth start at the track in the fall of 2004. Throughout his career, Gordon has led 11 laps at the southern California speedway.


Appearance Schedule – Robby Gordon will appear at Wahoo’s Fish Taco on Saturday night, October 10. He will be signing autographs at the Temecula, Calif. restaurant from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. For more information, please visit robbygordon.com.

On Sunday morning, Gordon and special guest Paul Menard, driver of the No. 98 Menards car, will be at the RGM Merchandise Hauler at Auto Club Speedway. The two will be signing autographs in two separate autograph sessions. Gordon is scheduled to appear at 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. and Menard will appear at 9:00 – 9:25 a.m.


TV and Radio Times – Qualifying for the Pepsi 500 at Auto Club Speedway will be broadcast on SPEED Channel beginning at 6:30 p.m. EST on Friday, October 9. A live television broadcast of the race will begin at 2:30 p.m. EST on Sunday, October 11. MRN and Sirius Satellite Radio will have radio coverage of the event beginning at 3:15 p.m. EST on Sunday afternoon.

let's hope the hard work pays off in a solid finish.
Hope they can pull off something in the top 15,just wish that agailliland and Robby were together for this track seeing as they are both home grown boys.Maybe in the future,hoping to see Robby pull the Rabbit out of the hat as David will be doing a S&P for TRG as they have to re coup money for that brand new car that they fielded for Bobby last week that lasted 8 laps.GO Robby do it for us locals.
I'm excited to see how the new chassis runs at a 2 mile track. I liked the progress that they made with the intermediate chassis earlier this year. RGM has seemed to have figured out restrictor track and road courses, even if the finishes haven't showed it. Hopefully, this info will come in handy for future runs.
