Anybody ride a Victory?

I've been thinking about trading in my VTX for a Victory, especially since Polaris stepped up to the plate. Anybody ride one? I live in a remote area and can't try one out at my local dealer. Just curious as to how they stack up, handling, seat comfort, mechanical issues, all those little things the dealer won't tell you. Would it be worth a trip to check it out?

I had a '02 1800C for awhile and also rode a friend's '03 Victory Vegas. The Victory looked cool but didn't handle all that well in the twisties compared to the VTX - too much rake and the front would "hunt." The Vegas had maybe 4" of ground clearance and even with forward controls would drag the pegs easily. It was smooth as any other modern big-bore V-twin and the power was good. The brakes were terrible. The seat was a wooden plank; worse than the stock VTX seat. Other than that it was a cool looking bike and my friend never had any mechanical issues with it.

Thanks so much! Exactly what I was hoping to learn. There aren't too many down here in the Keys. Only person I know who rides one is Kyle Petty and he loves it. But he probably only compared it to a Harley. Think I'll stick with my VTX. It's a sweet ride.

Keep an eye open to the other Victory models.
The Vegas is more like a Harley than a Honda, & really not built for the twisties.
Any bike can handle Deals Gap, it's just a matter of how fast.
The Victory lineup is/was on the move before the economy took it's toll. Polaris has always been cutting edge & rumors has it they're expanding their range into offroad & sportier street bikes.
I'm dreaming of a V-Strom/KLR/GS/Ulysses type tri-purpose...
maybe The Victory Triple Threat?

Though being from MN I might be biased...
