Jayski is reporting that Bobby Labonte visited Robby's shop last week. Friendly visit or full time second team in the near future?

Here is my theory on this. Just remember what Robby has said and done in the past.
1, Robby is always willing to look at any new idea/ business whise. (ths is what i think it is)
2, Robby has said it in the past. "As of right now we are not looking to expand to a 2 car team. But if a driver was to bring full sponsership then of course I would look at it".

So if Labonte were to come over to RGM. then he would have to bring the sponser with him just like he brought ask.com to the 96 car. that's my opinion.
Getting somebody like Bobby Labonte would be exactley what is needed for the team......Get another driver in the equipment to provide feedback....be nice if it amounts to something...we'll see......
Another driver, another CC, another car, diff feedback....all good things.
Why not...I'll read into it. Stick Bobby in a 2nd car for the first 5 races, and see where you lie at the end of it. For all we know, Bobby could be 14th in points and the phones would be ringing off the hook. You never know until you try. Potential sponsors would jump on board for at least 5 races due to the champions provisional. RGM already has a hauler, shop space, and extra cars. Finding a quality CC isn't a big deal, there are plenty of them out there looking for a job.

TRG is also looking to field a 2nd car next year, keep that in mind. I bet Gilliland secures the #71.
@Rob Hoban "Face it, Bobby has a family and a very differnt lifestyle. They are not getting together to talk about the World Series or the Swine Flu."

Spot on. I like Bobby a lot, no doubt he would be a huge plus for the team, but can't picture the two of them together. They say opposites attract and maybe it could work. But team mates should have some common ground. Don't see it here.
Probably wishful thinking, but I for one would love to see them working together. Bobby was my favorite driver when I started watching Nascar, so to be able to cheer for my "BobRob" duo and actually have them on the same team would bring back some of the joy I USED to have watching races. He used to work on Terry's cars, so like Robby he isn't just a driver who makes circles, he's not afraid to get his hands dirty if need be. Never know, those two just might could make it work. Bottom line for me is that Bobby's a great driver and respectable man and I'd like to see him get the following and recognition he used to have and deserves.

Bobby Labonte has apparently made a visit to Robby Gordon Motorsports to talk to Gordon about driving for him in 2010, according to Jayski.com.

Gordon, who owns and drives the No. 7 Toyota, is apparently considering starting up another team in 2010 and Labonte would be easier to get sponsorship for than many other potential drivers.

Meanwhile, Labonte's brother Terry, who is a semi-retired driver, is still trying to team up with former team owner Bill Savola to make a new racing team in NASCAR that will start its engines in 2010. The team will be called StavolaLabonte Racing, naturally, and appear in the Sprint Cup Series, which the 52-year-old Labonte won way back in 1984 and 1996.

Looks to me the Labonte family might just be exploring options and seeing if Teaming up or Partnering with Robby.
That Robby Gordon guy is one smart fella. If they pull this off, this place will go nuts.
from what I have heard, Bobby has been in talks with Earnhardt-Ganassi as well and the sponsor could be DPL. Would love to see Bobby drive for RGM.
When you are a shoe-in for the first 5 races of a new season, you are in talks with everybody who has the ability to field a car...lol...Pretty easy sell to a sponsor who is interested, and it's quire possible Bobby Labonte is double barreled with both a sponsor and the past champ provisional.
