Jayski is reporting that Bobby Labonte visited Robby's shop last week. Friendly visit or full time second team in the near future?

Good things for RGM, Hope they plan on a full time gig.

Sweet, waiting
That would bring the polish to an already class act
Maybe Bobby wanted to see a real owner/driver situation so he could take some notes. I don't see a problem with the Yates/Menard/Labontes connection either. But who gives a fudge... Dakar is 2 months away!
Silly season is not called SILLY for nothing. The whole sports world is silly with idiotic opinion shows and what not
(ESPN has become a joke to me and they now own Jayski) So for now we are faced with no option but opinion and speculation. The bottom line is Bobby Labonte after the season is going to be the golden boy as far as freeagents go.
1) Labonte wants to race not run laps so the car he brings his ass to better be able to put on a good effort.
2) The guy is not looking for money he wants to "race" but in the end cash might be the scale tipper
3) In the near future we will be hearing of Labonte visiting other shops as well...not waltrips' though.
4) Talk to me in a month for now let's get the 7 running better under Dougs watch, more beer does not mean better
beer. Options I see are if anything were to materialize is Paul Menard Dave Gilliland now we hear Labonte.
5) It's about time after this many years we take the leap but not a flying leap Labonte has been a Fav. of mine for a long time. Painted my sons room interstate battery green and when the bedset and curtains arrived it was Terry they deliverd and not Bobby there was a "misprint" I was told and they never had Bobby to begin with. Needless to say the green still went with the yellow Kellogs theme but i'm drifting off subject here......back to you Jane.
What? More beer is always the best kind of beer!
Merger... merger... merger... It was a meeting of the drivers that will be teamates next year when TRG and RGM join up. The 7 and the 71! Now what will be under the hood (Chevy or Toyota or maybe Dodge) is the real the big question. Any support for this theory?
One thing is for certain, and that is the #7 will be on the track next year with Robby Gordon behind the wheel.
I'd go slightly less than a merger. TRG (or some other team Labonte hooks up with) buys chassis from RGM and works out of the RGM shop in much the same way JTG/Daughtry does with MWR. They are still a seperate team, but are aligned with and work with the #7.

Robby get's the benefit of a racing partner/teammate and makes some money building cars and renting out space in his shop. But he doesn't incurr the expense of hiring a full crew and a 2nd CC and driver. Both teams benefit from info sharing, and shared administrative costs.

P.S. Bobby Labonte already owns a racing team that runs dirt late models and karts. Maybe he's thinking of growing this into a cup deal.
hmmmmm....very intresting Alan and thinking about this WHOLE situation......this probably makes the most sense to me...

Then again......Robby doesn't check with me to see if things make sense :)
LOL, Robby didn't call me either. But when he does, this is the kind of deal I'll recommend to him. ;-)
So would that be oil in the water, or water in the oil?
Either way they don't mix!
