Yeah RG had that wreck cleared till the 36 hit him, Oh well, at least he didnt bump draft Jimmie Johnson and get parked for the next race which is what would have happened to the driver that caused the big one if Jimmie was in it. Now that he wasn't NASCAR will stop their crying and go celebrate with JJ. UGHHH.

It made my day to see Robby leading the race through his own skill and determination. It wasn't pit strategy or fuel gamble. He flat out raced to the front and took a turn at the helm. We keep hearing about how great those cars roll off the hauler and we finally got to see it for ourself. The crew stepped up a notch. Jim Beam finally got some tv time. Life is good.
We could all second guess whether or not he should have pitted. And I bet he's doing the same. Despite the end, we saw a lot of progress. On to Texas!!
Now as for JJ... Perhaps if his prior championships weren't tainted by cheating, perhaps if he played by the same rules as the rest of the field, perhaps if his car failed tech inspection and the infraction wasn't dismissed as being too minor, perhaps if there were some pretense of a competitive balance on the track I wouldn't hate him so much. Not sure he really has to concern himself with big picture racing as NASCAR will find a way to make sure he takes home the trophy a 4th time. He will never equal Cale Yarborough's achievements, no matter how many consecutive championships. He doesn't have to worry about setups or where he'll get the money for his next start. He doesn't have to worry about wrecking his car and not having it available for the next event. All he has to do is get behind the wheel, and he gets paid a gazillion dollars to do just that.
Haven't you heard? Nascar is the official global home of crackpots and conspiracy "theorists". There are countless sources that have "proof" that nascar is scripted to the same degree as WWE.
I wonder how Ryan Newman reacted to the 'Dega script in pre-race readthrough.

The skill level may be better, but I'm not so sure about the competition. We have drivers who earned a ride because they could bring in a sponsor and not how they wheel a car. We have that mega team/little guy chasm. We have these COTs that plow around the track and harder to pass.
Not saying this is restricted to NASCAR as far as the $$ effect. Just an observation of life and the economy in general.
Yup. It may be frustrating to see a small number of large money teams dominating the series in race wins, but top to bottom the competition is so much closer today than it was back in the "good old days" it can't possibly be debated.
The history of NASCAR would probably be quite different if David Pearson could have bagged a major sponsor, like saaaaaaaaaaaaaay STP to ensure that he was racing every week, rather than all of the part time racing he was limited to. But yeah, it's just the way it is TODAY, guys getting rides based on their ability to attract a sponsor rather than their ability to drive.
The old NASCAR will never be again. Drivers like Robby and Tony are the only thing that keeps NASCAR interesting. Those guys are the types fans can relate to and can cheer for. How anyone can cheer for that diva of a driver Jimmie Johnson is beyond me. For the love of god if people only knew the pampered little whine bags the Hendrick teams is. They take yoga over there. I can't see men like Dale Sr and Petty taking yoga! Jimmie also has no idea or appreciation for the fans who struggle to save money to attend races so he has a job. Back when Cale was driving and winning he was the type of driver fans felt like was one of them. Jimmie doesn’t have that appeal and is why he just inst popular champion. He could win 10 and still the fans aren’t going to adore him like they did Dale Sr. Maybe if he changes his image, then he has a shot. I like what someone said earlier, if Hendrick was always getting caught cheating and let off the hook people might like them, but as along as NASCAR lets them off the hook and fines guys like Carl Long $200,000 then nothing will change. Sure they have been fined money and Knaus suspended for 6 weeks, but you will never see a fine like they gave Carl to Hendrick or Knaus suspended indefinitely like the Gibbs Nationwide crew chiefs were a few years ago. I don’t think its like the WWE but they do show give some breaks to the big guys. There was a lot of bump drafting in the cornors yesterday but you didn’t see anyone get parked for agresive driving because they weren’t hitting the 48.
