Penske is interested in buying-out Robby and bringing him in as a fourth driver.

This has been speculated before here. First time I am aware of that it has been brought up by somebody credible in the media.

Hope it's true. I've said all along that Robby needs an owner he respects AND that will keep him in line. He respected Childress, but Penske covers both of these things.

Good luck to RG in 2010, whatever he ends up doing.
This whole situation is pretty ugly. For Robby to work so hard at having his own team all these years....

Any true RG fan wants Robby to do what is best for him, but it would really be a shame to see the end of RGM, if that is what happens. He stands for so much more than just a race car driver.......

It would be so much more appealing to see him 'team up' with someone for a year or two than sell his own team outright, IMHO. Kind of like the GEM deal without the selling of the team in the end.
I agree...when Robby said he would rather shut it down that merge..I thought what a shame all the hard work the last 5 years just to sit empty.
Might as well get some $$ out of it..(that's my commercial banking background talking!)
Offroad not going anywhere? Being the SCORE champ isn't "nowhere." SCORE is the premier offroad series in the US. They even pulled crowds and some of the top rally driver when they went to Germany last summer.
I think he means nowhere as in RG is not selling it.
Roger could let him use an Indy car with real potential as well.
Yeah, there's no running out of gas on the last lap of the 500 when you're driving for Penske ....
No, you just have your tire come off after the final pit stop.....
My thought on this is that with testing limited like it is, you'd be a fool to not look at adding RG to your team. You get a driver, crew chief and car-builder all in the same package. Look what he's been able to do from an R&D perspective at RGM - they have been through several generations of the COT, with each version getting progressively better. Their current car seems to be pretty stout - good speed in the races and qualifying 10 spots better than they used to. If you crave having someone in your car who will tell you *no shit* what's wrong with it and come up with wholesale changes to make it better, then you want RG.

Not all owners want to know how bad their cars suck, though. Not sure if Penske's one of them or not. And I think any deal has to somehow allow RG to continue down his path of becoming a contending car-owner in cup.
If Robby worked out a partnership with Penske that would be incredibly awesome. Always felt they should hook up for a variety of reasons.
No more Dodge, PLEASE NO MORE DODGE!
