Penske is interested in buying-out Robby and bringing him in as a fourth driver.

This has been speculated before here. First time I am aware of that it has been brought up by somebody credible in the media.

Why isnt Penske running Toyota's anyway? Doesnt he have a history with them?
And a history with Chevy.

And with Ford.

And with Honda.

And with Porsche.

And with Mercedes.

and it goes on and on. Penske has history with nearly every manufacturer involved in American motorsports for the last 30 years or so....
A don't forget he was really close to buying Saturn from GM, and he owns the US rights to Smart Cars.
I think he meant his start with Toyota dealerships in CA.
because he is the only owner with Dodge backing. They can afford to give him what Hendrick gives Chevy and Ford gives Roush.
Beside the owners points why would Penske want to buy RGM's Cup program? Really? Penske's shop is 10X bigger them RGM's shop. Penske has his own engine program and his own chassis program. What does RGM have that Penske would want to buy? I think this could be just annoying Clare B Lang's way of making a topic or conversation for her show.
Penske could only want RGM top 35 spot, figures that RG could keep it there in 2010, then the seat would Justin Allgaier's in 2011.

But I don't think RG would do that. He's not going to sell........
Robby would still have his offroad program.

I think he would merge before only racing 8 races next year....he is a racer....he wants to race.

If Penske really wants Robby....he will give Robby a little freedom.

Bottom line is that Penske cars have been pretty competitive this year and they need some veteran drivers to help develop their young talent...so why not?
Could be the current stable of drivers but the Penske cars seem to be very loose.. I mean really, really, really, really, really, loose OK...
Loose = fast! :)

Kurt Busch is 3rd in points...
There would be so many awesome things to watch if this actually happened.

I'm no fan of Penske, though and Roger would just be buying a top 35 seat to keep warm for Justin Algier.

A switch back to Dodge and the fans that still want to hate on Kurt Busch would be interesting to watch.

And of course the Indy speculation (if Penske isn't sending Hornish to Indy, why would he send Robby?)
Me thinks that 99.9 % of the RG fanbase have gotten over the Busch/Gordon incidents circa 2003, Robby and Kurt certainly have, but I am sure there will be a few that will mention if they can ' get along ' . Last I checked, people forgive and forget .
