Anyone know why Robby's Trophy Truck is still refered to as a CK1500? A model they have not built for 11 years instead of a Silverado? I would think Chevy/GM would want their latest brand name represented. Is there a SCORE bennefit to running the older "style" truck?

hmm, still 1500's around.
GM has always called their trucks CK
C=2wd K=4wd
Both Chevrolet and GMC dropped the "C" and "K" designations in 1999. The instead rebranded the pickup line "Silverado" (Sierra for GMC) which prior to that was a trim level. The 1500 is still used but more for the load weight class, ie 1500 = 1/2 ton, 2500 = 3/4 ton etc. They do refer to their Heavy Duty Trucks as 1500HD, and 2500HD, but the CK is long gone as a brand identity. So it's either a Silverado 1500, Silverado 1500HD, but if it's a CK1500 its a 99 or older.
Actually 2000 was the last year for the CK body. I have a 2000 K2500 crew cab. Everything over 8600Lbs were still using the old body style.
Yes, but yours is a 2500.. the last for a CK1500 was a 99. They also built the new Silverados and the old CK1500s at the same time.Back in the day we refered to them as Classic 1500 when ordering. The CK1500 made better snow plow trucks IMO
the clip looks like a 2003 silverado/Avalanche ....so whats it matter ? the TT -77 Kicks Ass no matter what you call it.
It doesn't matter to me. Hell he could drive a CK Custom Deluxe "Camper Special" and it would not matter. I am just curious why? Andy McMillan's TT is refered to a Silverado and it was built by Robby Gordon Off Road.
True ...(scratching head)
Andy nolonger drives the RG truck. It is sitting in their shop for sale, as Scott and Andy purchased a Gieser bros TT last year. But why does RG call his truck a chevy CK, I dont know? When the team send in their entry form they list when model they have. So it is RG's decision to call his truck a CK and not a Silverado.
Did not know that. Bet he want a few coins for the RG TT.
$350K... Peanuts..
I can tell you why this truck has not sold yet. The problem is when RG built these two trucks he did not use any off the shelf parts. Even the radiators and heat exchangers were special ordered sizes. Instead of using a radiator that CR might stock you have to have it special ordered and made. And this truck is not an easy truck to service and mantain. McMillins did change the suspention a bit and removed the RG shocks and went with Kings as they were easier to service and Andy did not like the feel they got with the RG shocks.

Bottom line is who ever buys this truck has to have deep pockets to be able to race and maintain this truck. From what McMillins have said is the Gieser is much more service friendly and as far as chassis parts you can go to Gieser and get parts, unlike having to fab one off parts for the RG TT.
Nobody likes the way Robby sets up his shocks/truck.. Only Robby.
