The Morning Drive (Radio Show)

Larry McReynolds was giving his thoughts on Jimmie Johnson winning a 4th straight title, Dale Junior's frustrating season, Danica thoughts and Robby Gordon.

(Larry) "One driver that will be really busy this weekend is Robby Gordon. Robby will be trying to win an off-road championship at Baja, while Matt Crafton lends a hand practicing & qualifying Robby's car at Miaimi. I spoke to Robby the other day about next season and he was really upbeat. He's really liked the way his cars have run lately. He really hopes a good finish at Homestead, combined with winning an off road championship and high hopes of a good finish at Dakar can jump start his 2010 Cup season."
"Drivers go through high and low points in their careers and the best medicine is winning. Sometimes a driver just needs to win something and before you know it carries over to everything. That's why you see drivers sometimes go run a truck race, Nationwide race, or like Robby in other series. Winning a championship in any racing series these days is extremely hard. Combinning that with running a full Nascar Cup series is pretty amazing."

about time!!!
thats right, this is not only a championship weekend for Jimmie Johnson(more than likely) and Kyle Busch, but also for Robby Gordon.
Listening to Larry Mac, it sounded liked Robby sees his Cup team has taken a step forward (didn't say since Doug came aboard, but appears that way to me). No mention of any sponsorships or anything like that, just sounded like RGM believes winning a championship will help the whole RGM organization. From the way Larry talked he empasized Dakar, and this weekend at Homestead also.

It's gonna be fun watching Robby win a Score Championship, try to win Dakar and really go for it at Daytona (after Talladega, I can't wait to see Robby running up front at Daytona, Bet Robby gets after it the first few races trying to attract sponsors).
Collins didn't show...
I love Larry. He is always talking good about RG and talks about the other types of racing RG does. Hopefully Jimmie wont be the only champion they talk about all weekend. If RG wins hopefully the media will interview him as well so sponsors see he is a champ too.
Larry has been a big RG fan fo ryears..especially since he brings his cool boat over to his Memorial Day BBQ special on Speed every year...lol

As for RGM's performance....I see good things in the cars and with Doug on the pit box...

Say what you want at Phoenix..but we were fast off the truck..qualified decent and although they were chasing the car..we were top 25 the whole day....I'll take that on a day we're chasing the car..usually thats a 35th.
I agree that the cars are looking mutch better the last few weeks. This will be the telling race as Robby's COT's have not finished well at Homestead. If they do, then we know we will have good cars for the intermediate tracks next season. This means that RGM could become a triple threat team - Speedway, Road and Intermediate and could translate into a top 20 year.
Haven't you heard? Robby is not *running* the double this weekend, he's *winning* the double.
Larry Mac always seems interested in what Robby is doing
Let's not get carried away with "many", hopefully some. I think RGM needs to bank on his Championship and lure some of the off-road sponsors like Tecate, Slime and others to Cup. Even if it's a couple of races. Any races in Texas, Phoenix, Las Vegas, or California shoiuld be appealling tp those companies.
