STAGE 3: La Rioja > Fiambala

Connection 259km | Special Stage 182km | Connection 0km | Total 441km

Course Overview

It'll be on the third real day of racing that the competitors will have to deal with a first test. The change of context will be radical: with a switch from earth to sand and especially a dune portion of close to 30 kilometres. Other than their dimension that suits perfectly a first part of rally, these dunes are noticeable thanks to their white colour. In this new landscape, the crews will enjoy off-piste. They will also have to adapt to a change of climate and especially sand storms that are frequent in the area.

ADJUSTMENT OF THE FOURTH STAGE FIAMBALA-COPIAPO
In order that the race remains as fair as possible, possibilities of adjustments based on the events of the previous day have been imagined.

Indeed, seeing that a great number of competitors will not have returned to the bivouac by night fall, and having to face the passage of the Andes Cordillera, the rally organization has decided to delay the start of tomorrow’s stage from 4:00 to 5:30 and set the finish of tomorrow’s special at CP3, reducing it of its last 40 kilometers.

The "public zone" planned at km 184,91 has therefore been removed.

Any word on what happened to Robby today and why he was so late?
I was told from a reliable source that he got stuck very early on in the stage in the deep sand. Not sure, but I think BJ might have helped him get out....that part wasn't clear at the time.
wow. I have yet to hear anything, Thanks for this.
