Connection 90 km | Special Stage 483 km | Connection 97 km | Total 670 km

Course Overview

The area has a reputation for its density in gold and copper mines. And that will be the theme of the hard day the competitors will witness on the road to Antofagasta, as demanding physically as it will be mentally. The open but rocky tracks of the first part of the day won't leave the slightest respite in terms of staying focused. And the off-road portions that follow will request solidity at all points of view: it is indeed here that the competitors will have to battle it out in the fesh-fesh, known on this continent as 'guadal'. At the end of this stage where changes in pace will be numerous; the notion of endurance will start to have its real significance. The less cautious will have already committed mistakes.

If Robby, can keep his time over 314 Sousa. He will be 5th overall today... No make that 4th. 308 Holowczyc, is right there also...

He's 4th overall as of km 244
Sousa hasn't even reached km 339 & was 10 min off the pace at 244.
I think RG only needed 5-1/2 min to take 5th from him at the start.
W/PeterPencil off an hour+ RG's got it solid... so far.
another 15 min. or so for km 402.

Did anyone notice that 83 cars are listed for starting, but 84 left. Are some DQ'ed running on appeal, like in Carlos??

I've noticed that every day. Several always start 10,20,30 minutes late. Last minute repairs? or maybe people like us who start way back to avoid the dust and just want to stay out of the way, say that they finished the Dakar.

Sousa is thru 339km and 14'.01'' behind the lead, thus about 10' behind RG overall.

With 308 and 329 not thru 339 yet, this is shaping up nicely to be a Top 5 Overall for RG. Hope that this is not a tracking issue again. Fingers Crossed and Gas on!!!

314 Sousa also, RG will be 4Th overall. because 301 had major problems...
