STAGE 5: Copiapo > Antofagasta

Connection 90 km | Special Stage 483 km | Connection 97 km | Total 670 km

Course Overview

The area has a reputation for its density in gold and copper mines. And that will be the theme of the hard day the competitors will witness on the road to Antofagasta, as demanding physically as it will be mentally. The open but rocky tracks of the first part of the day won't leave the slightest respite in terms of staying focused. And the off-road portions that follow will request solidity at all points of view: it is indeed here that the competitors will have to battle it out in the fesh-fesh, known on this continent as 'guadal'. At the end of this stage where changes in pace will be numerous; the notion of endurance will start to have its real significance. The less cautious will have already committed mistakes.

wow! i'm looking at the overall right now and it's show BJ went from 59th to start the day...to 11th!?
is that right?
and it show RG going from 8 to 4th...Gas On!!
He wont be 11th but a very good day, maybe up to top 50.
Anyone know status on 329?
Is he running or just not being recorded like Robby yesterday?
AZ -- I think he is 11th for the stage so far..
How the hell did he loose 2 min in final 30km?
I'm sure he was pressing pretty hard. One little off-course and you could easily lose 2.
Bad Gas, Lhama's, burnt wire, bad spark plug, wrong turn, 2wd vs 4wd ...
Last year they lost a couple minutes when the rolled it 3-4 times...
He may have lost in that small KM section, but GAINED from the first Km waypoint
RG 4th
Way to go RG, a very good day!
Robby 4th
WOW Robby lost a lot of time on that last section, came in 4th!!
