STAGE 6: Antofagasta > Iquique
Connection 180 km | Special Stage 418 km | Connection 0 km | Total 598 km
Course Overview
The efforts are equally spread out on the day's special. On the off-piste portion of the first third, the dust will push the competitors to be cautious. The larger and faster tracks that will be at the heart of the program will force those who are fighting for positions to maintain a fast pace. They will however need to keep a good amount of energy: indeed an African type erg awaits at the heart of a sandy portion of around fifty kilometres. But for the final part, the reward will be at the height of the difficulties. After having climbed a last dune, the competitors will take on a slide type sand downhill of close to three kilometres with Iquique and the waves of the ocean on the horizon. An unforgettable scene.

oh hell ya that would be just bombing thru some Chile trails watching that suspension go to work while everyone else just puts along cus they dont have any suspension like the hummers do.

351 - Beware of the Hummer that hides... the Hummer!
As shadow and support driver for Robby Gordon he is driving one of the 3 Hummers of, US driver Robert Baldwin (Hummer) was the surprise of the beginning of this sixth stage when he was timed in the lead at CP1 (km 68) after the first 15 cars checked through. Baldwin was 1’16 ahead of French driver Stéphane Peterhansel (BMW) and 1’35 ahead of another Frenchman Nicolas Misslin and his factory Mitsubishi. -

BTW, Jonah Street is 6th through the 292 Km mark, less than a minute out of moving in to 5th in the overall standings. Go Jonah!

Last year we had video coverage in the pits at night watching the team perp the cars for the next stage. Are we going to get any coverage of this.

RG was passed on course by neves and sousa first section. Got back by sousa second section. Hope he can pass Neves this section, we will soon see. Needs to get a couple more before the bad dust later.
