STAGE 12: San Juan > San Rafael

Connection 23 km | Special Stage 476 km | Connection 297 km | Total 796 km

Course Overview

For the longest stage of the rally, the program will be as lively as it will be spectacular. We will leave the area of dinosaurs on tracks cut by rios, surrounded by canyons and "fairy chimneys". After around 200 kilometres of special, the competitors will momentarily use the road in order to avoid a classified and protected natural site. The second part, exclusively sandy will have many jumps. The bikers can expect to have sore arms and the best of them will rarely ride at over 100 km/h. The day will be even more tiring due to the fact that it will end with a long liaison.

Wow. Very long stage , with 130 KM of neutral ground
when they use the road is there a speed limit or is it balls to the wall
Looks like they must conform to local speed limits, when they apply. There are also other areas that the ASO can deem as speed zones requiring a 50kph or 30kph limit (less if the local limit is less)

This should be good!! They can both move up a place or two if they run as well as they have the last two stages. Here's to the hope of a few VW & BMW problems. They have not really had any yet and are due.
I would think Robby and BJ would do well at these because of Baja and the long runs they do there. Lets Hope! Hope that the VWs don't have a year like Robby's Score season where he did not put a wrench on the car untill the last race.
It's a real testament to the crews to have runs like this. Not to say RG's crew has let him down, they have done a great job of dealing with what has been thrown at them (transmissions, roll overs and inflator issues). We know they do a great job as seen with his SCORE championship.
they have finished every single stage so far!
This might be a good stage for the Hummers. I really dislike short stages, they're not to Robby's advantage.
Here is the Dakar scorecard for Robby so far, nascar style.

11 races, 1 win , 2 top fives, 6 top 10's, 1 pole....

not bad !
So who plays Team alarm clock? Shake them bones out of them bags! LOL!
This might actually be Robby I'm thinkin' :)

RobbyGordon: rise & shine, ready to go - stage 12 today, longest of the rally.
