As the Dust Settles from Dakar & Laughlin, Time to gear up for Nascar...

With Daytona less than a month away, many questions at RGM should be answered soon. The first, who will be the crew chief at RGM? the second, who's the sponsor for Daytona? Those two questions will be burning until answered.

Other questions of interest, wiho will drive the #49 BAM car? Gilliland, Riggs, Mears or someone else. Will switching from the wing to spoiler help or hurt Robby. What about Watkins Glen undergoing some changes, does this help or hurt Robby?

What does the Planet think?

IMO- I think RGM will be in a different mode, forget being conservative. The first 5 races it's all out for RGM. Checkers or Wreckers attitude.

What if RG was in the #49?
My only queation is how long will Robby run in NASCAR? I really hope he can run the whole season, I think if he can run the season with a partner I honestly think he can finish in the 15 - 20 range and with alttle luck maybe even better than that...With the partner he should qualify alot better and gain much needed track position at the start of the race...Robby had top 15 cars almost every time he raced at a cookie cutter track last year mainly poor starting positions were reasons for poor results..Robby will continue to run upfront at roadcourses and restrictor plate tracks and if the shared information with the 49 is worth 5 - 7 spots in quals then watch out NASCAR, Robby is going to taake the world by surprise.....just need the sponsor money to run....
One question of interest will be answered in the morning, the driver of the #49 car will be announced. It will be made public on VIPFanExperience.com and their Facebook page.

Many believe Gilliland is the front leader. Dave Blaney's name can be scratched off, he's already said he's headed back to Prism Motorsports after showing interest in the #49 team, but nothing transpired. Most believe its' between Gilliland, Riggs and possibly Casey Mears.
fyi, there was already a thread about BAM & RGM in play , so no need for additional threads on the #49.
I just looked on the Glen site, and could not find anything about them undergoing changes. What changes are you talking about?
Really doesn't matter. Hard to get excited about a part time effort.
sad but true.
Good fit in a lot of ways but what will uncle ricky think? Stewart is Hendrick racing and RG doesn't fit into that mold.
Let's see if having David Gilliland sharing notes helps...perhaps this is the year to breakout for RGM.
Only a one race deal so far.
I think Robby will be around all year, Menards is an associate on the #49 car. RGM won't have to worry about payroll as much now with BAM's alliance, but he needs to get some great runs to attract sponsors. It's happening everywhere in Cup. Even Kennseth & Jeff Gordon have space still available for sponsors.

Robby said it best last year, they have to get the results on their Cup side like they have on their off-road program and sponsorship will come. If Robby has a car close to what he had at Talladega, he can win the Daytona 500. I'm real curious as to who Robby hires as crew chief. (Really hate Doug left). Larry Carter would be a nice addition.
