Does anyone find it funny Carl Edwards only gets probation for 3 races.... Yet Robby's incident at Montreal was far less dramatic and dangerous and he gets suspended for a race?? I don't get it... I would think Edwards wouldn't mind the suspension because AFLAC pays when you're out of work.

NASCAR is starting to feel like our government. Only cares about the big businesses and could care less about the little guy.

I dont comment often here. But I do enjoy reading everyones comments. I think RG fans are the smartest of the bunch. I became a huge Brad fan after he stayed in the gas and punted carl. Carl is a punk... he seems to be a media darling and nascar loves him. He was a 100 laps down and took out a 6th place car. Nascar should be embaressed with this probation crap even if they are in a box after the famous quote of have at it boys. Is it really racing or a reaction to possible actions taken by nascar or lack of. The next few races will be good cause guys will push the issue and fans are gonna watch. Exactly what nascar wants. I like harvicks twit... wanting a refund for past punishment. classic... and RG twitting what would have happend to him in that same issue. I never liked carl and anyone willing to get in matts face on camera and act like a punk is exactly that a punk. its funny here on the west coast. carl has become friends with the metal melisha. so not his image. anyways, i hope brad stays true to his way of racing and keeps it old skool. say what the media wants to hear and take care of business on the track. screw your respect shit....
Oh the melodrama.
Peguins Matt Cooke got nothing for a vicious blindside hit to the head of Bruin Marc Savard, Carl Edwards gets a 3 race probation peroid for chasing Keslowski around the track for vicious takeout, everthing seem fine in the world of "contact" sports, what's the big deal ?
Interesting. Seems his sponsor is sending him a message too. This is probably even more effective than any penalty. From Jayski:

Scott's Statement: Scotts appreciates the support of NASCAR fans everywhere, and we have an excellent relationship with Carl Edwards, Jack Roush and the #99 Roush Fenway Racing team. However, like many fans, we were very concerned about the on-track incident that occurred in Atlanta this past weekend. As a result, we have strongly expressed these concerns to both Carl and Jack, and we are confident that they have a clear understanding of the trust we have placed in them as ambassadors of our company, our associates and our brands. In addition, as a sponsor, we want to make sure that drivers, race teams and NASCAR focus on keeping these types of incidents and misjudgments from happening.(3-11-2010)
Ouch....But hey TV time is TV time
maybe scotts new slogan can be
"Scotts...... crashing weeds on at a time"
That's statement is up on Scott's wedsite, under promotion, probably not much traffic there! ;)

Aflac released statement as well....

Carl Edwards' sponsor Scotts doesn’t want repeat of Atlanta ~ scenedaily

Aflac, which is Edwards’ primary sponsor for the majority of the races this year, also issued a statement:

“Aflac supports and values the relationship we have with Carl Edwards and the No. 99 Aflac Roush Fenway Racing team,” the Aflac statement said. “While we don’t discuss the specific details of our partnerships, we trust that the on-track incident will remain just that and was handled appropriately by NASCAR.”
The problem I have is the Montreal incident was the Nationwide Series and they suspend Robby a Cup event. They Can't have a big name like Edwards out of a race. This really sucks. Rock On Robby
Harvick's incident was at a Nationwide (then Busch) event also. Robby ignored and went on to embarrass NASCAR. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

It's going to take a horrendous act by somebody in the top 20 to get suspended. The $$ involved on all fronts really make it next to impossible for the sanctioning body to do what is commonly done at the local track level. And IMO you can take it to the bank that IF it did happen, the offender will be punished more out of their disrespect of NASCAR than for their actual offense.
99.9% of all race car drivers in the world , react in the heat of the moment , so it's easy for us non race car drivers to say " dont do the crime if you dont want to do the time " . Most look back at their incidents and regret what they did, but the bottomline is stuff like this will happen again ( incidents in general ) as long as racing exists.
wasnt talking about Carl, per se, talking about most on track incidents. Go get em champ!
I think many of us are missing the bigger picture. What if Carl had killed Brad? He took a guy out at 180mph. I am all for aggresive racing, but what he did was put his car back together to go out and try and crash that kid. If I was Nascar I don't know if I would let him race again.
If NASCAR did that, they wouldn't have enough eligible drivers to field a race.
