Will the BAM 49 car be testing also..It seams that it would be a good chance to get a couple more cars on the track...I hope Robby brings at least 2 cars but 4 would be alot better..

Frustrating to watch But I'm a big Robby Fan I believe he's a top 5 driver!In absolute second rate equipment.Engines Im know expert thats for sure.Was lookin at his results over the past few years.I know they are an extremely underfunded team and they do the best with what they have thats for sure no lack of effort I realize that.
Avg start Avg finish
2007- 33.9 25.8
2008- 30.9 29.0
2009- 30.1 28.5
2010- 37.4 31.6
I'm not sure if it's motors,chassis,or whatever but they gotta do somethin.Race teams can't survive with results like this.Attracting sponsors will be near impossible.I'm hoping Robby and management can figure something out I'm sure they are workin on it.He is such a talent!It's just hard to adjust to watching him and hopin he can just stay on the lead lap?It's a real shame.Or just 1 lap down and call that a great day?Hope they can figure that out.Oh Triad the best package he ever had with finishes like this over the past 3-4 years thats nothing to brag about.Almost becoming a field filler team!!Oh ignorant comments get over it!!
You know, and I know you do, that average finish for 2010 is meaningless. 3 of the 5 races had RG's finishes messed up by circumstances out of the driver and teams control.

Daytona - running top 15 and moving forward on the last lap before being taken out by the #24;
Fontana - running top 20 with 20 to go when the engine blows;
Atlanta - tire sheds it's carcass on lap 3.

What's the average finish look like without crappy luck? Really, put your statistics in context, and it's not nearly as gloomy an outlook as you make it sound.
Because RGM could get nothing but the best from his BFFs JJ and Jeff Gordon over at Hendrick, right? Not to mention he'd be behind all four Hendrick cars plus the two Stewart-Haas entries in the pecking order.

If RGM were to ever go back to Chvey, RCR would be the best choice for engines, but that's not happening. It's Toyota, it's Triad, and that's the way it is.
"The cars are probubly ok but those engines"

Personally, I think you have it backwards. Motors (any motor for that matter) will look like they're down on HP if you can't get through the corners fast.
His issue is NOT horsepower. Triad does a very good job making horsepower, especially considering their lease pricing.

I personally feel its a fundametal flaw with the way his in house chassis are built, specifically torsional stiffness and/or suspension geometry. I have a feeling they are building the cars too stiff, more like an off road vehicle than a stock car. That works for the desert, but on ovals too stiff means you will be chasing setups all over the place. Riley and Scott dabled in Nascar development, they learned these issues first hand.

RGM has NEVER struggled they way they have at intermediate tracks this year. I realize the 2010 season has just started, but I remember the #7 at least running in the top half of 1.5 mile tests in previous years.

The other issue here is dollars, RGM just doesnt have the money to do testing at non sanctioned tracks or do costly analysis work (CFD, FEA) the mega teams run on a daily basis.

Keep your heads up though guys, racing is a funny sport and sometimes teams turn the corner when you least expect it. Personally, I hope RGM is spending more time on an Indycar program and thats why the Nascar stuff is slipping.
" sometimes teams turn the corner when you least expect it."

yeah, like from lap 200 & onward at Bristol last week...lol...Nobody thought he would finish 30th , let alone 22nd at lap 199...lol....
as you all know, I don't know shit. But I gotta tell ya, this makes a ton of sense to me. In nascar, especially any other oval track racing, it's all about weight transfer and the cars ability to take a comfortable set once the weight changes. Ideally, that transfer does so in a balanced way ie both right side front and rear tires, while also keeping the left sides happy and finding grip.

its finding that balance that separates the Knaus' from the Neads'....
No word yet on the morning speeds from day 2 of testing....
We know from Jaski that RGM was around a second and a half off what the top guy was running. We also know that Robby doesn't have the coin to push the COT's spec envelop. Further, we don't know what goals Larry and Robby had for the test. Was it to lay down a hot lap or was it to just get fast data for the car and good tire wear? If the car held its time for a long run, then I think we may see some good things on the spoiler switch over at Texas.
Turtle7- I am going to try to find out what the agenda is for todays session ( what they worked on, etc. ) I do know there are a few planet members there shooting some video from the stands , so hopefully we get to see that this evening.
you're a good man, charlie brown
RGM usually performs better when their backs are against the wall. It's been a long time since RGM has been grouped with the "Go or Go Homers". It makes you dig down a little deeper and squeeze out a little more. I fully expect Robby to make the field sunday. I also expect him to run decent (Top 25). If you look at the owner points standings, 37-25 are tight and reachable. Mathematically Robby could jump from 36th to 24th after sunday. Switching back to the spoiler will fit better to Robby's driving style. The COT was built for safety, cost assistance, and better racing. The saftey has been proven (thanks to numerous wrecks with no injuries in the COT), costs have been somewhat better, better racing is up for debate since Hendrick has dominated the sport with the COT. Switching back to the spoiler will be a huge welcome, hopefully the splitter is next to be removed from the COT. It's slowly starting to look like a stock car again. The tracks are in need of help. Bristol is no longer the exciting arena is once was..., hopefully Dega will be eye candy with drivers being allowed to bump draft again. The schedule needs a make-over badly...Nascar needs to stop trying to get in huge markets and find better tracks that gives us a better racing product.

Indy is running at Barber's Motorspeedway in Alabama this year, one of the finest road courses in the US. Nascar needs another road course, needs another plate track and few more short tracks. Get rid of these "cookie-cutter"tracks!
