Robby Gordon Martinsville Preview

Charlotte, NC (March 25, 2010) – The No. 7 Warner Music Nashville / Blake Shelton Camry speeds into Martinsville Speedway this weekend with high hopes after recording a season-best finish of 22nd at Bristol Motor Speedway last week. After an unlucky start to the 2010 season, the team looks forward to the challenge of recording another strong finish at the 0.526-mile short track to obtain a spot within the top-35 Sprint Cup Series owners’ points.

Robby’s Thoughts – “Martinsville Speedway is different from any other track on the Sprint Cup circuit,” commented Gordon. “Its tight corners and flat banking present a whole different set of challenges from every other short track that we visit. Not only is it a tough track on the driver, but it’s also hard on equipment. I’m confident in my team’s ability, and I’m sure that they built the Warner Music Nashville / Blake Shelton Toyota Camry to the challenges of Martinsville.”

I don't think he wants to put extra laps on THIS car.
Quoting Alan Iverson "Practice" "We talkin bout Practice" "Practice"
If he misses this race, it can be directly blamed for the lack of practice today. The track will be totally different when he goes back out for qualifying. Let it rain.
He could run 300 laps of practice at Martinsville and still miss the race. All it takes is one bobble.
if this car was setup for qualifing only why was he only 41 out of 46 cars
That was practice. Qualifying is at 3:00. It hasnt taken place yet.Mike Bliss was top 10 in practice last week at Bristol, and went home.
He needs to run like he did back in the fall of 03 at Martinsville this sunday. At least Todd Bodine and Derrike Cope wont be here to wreck him again! That was a hell of a race he had going, dead cert top 5, and it was the first race I saw in the flesh. Happy dayz.
Fly's post makes it sound like the car was built for qualifying and if Rob makes the race it might just scrape the wall in practice on Saturday. Sounds like the back up car is already wrapped in the Blake Shelton sceme.
It will be a close one come qualifying....After practice ended:

Robby would be the last car to make it on time.

Missing would be: #13 Papis, #55 McDowell & #36 Bliss.

Mears, RoBby, Cook, Sauter, Stremme & Almirola all ran within a hair of each others time. (A .20 of a second is inches apart).
well with your stats, it tells me this is going to be a fun qualifying session to watch!
The only thing I can say is if there is anybody that can GETTER DONE!It's Robby Flash Gordon!!And you can take that to the bank!!!He's good for at teast 5-6 spots.....
Having to qualify on speed could actually be helpful in some respects. Maybe by putting more emphasis on qualifying, they will have some better starting positions instead of always just starting the weekend practices focused solely on race trim, not qualifying well and starting every event in the back with all the junk. It could actually help a team in the long run. Just a thought.
