Working to secure their future in NASCAR, BAM Racing announced today it would be introducing a driver development program. BAM has signed young Canadian driver Ryan Mackintosh as their first development driver. Mackintosh, 13, currently drives for Chris Woods Racing in Kannapolis, N.C. He is originally from Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada where he was the 2009 Canadian INEX Young Gun Champion. In 2010, Mackintosh is competing full time in the INEX Bandolero Outlaws division and is scheduled to race selected Allison Legacy events.

Mackintosh moved from Canada to the United States to pursue his racing career fulltime while his parents and sister continue to live in Canada. Ryan has proven his dedication by balancing his time between education and racing; completing schoolwork and devoting time to learn how to work on the cars in the race shop.

BAM Racing Owner Beth Ann Morgenthau is looking forward to putting her stamp on the future of racing by contributing to the development of a young driver. Mrs. Morgenthau explains, "We chose Ryan to be associated with BAM Racing because of his proven talent and the drive that he has exhibited at such a young age. Ryan is a well mannered young man that is extremely dedicated, we are proud to help him progress."

BAM’s driver development program will offer support for Mackintosh to allow him to continue to develop as a young professional. The team signed Mackintosh to a long term contract, tying up the first option to his services as a professional race car driver. "Instead of a rigidly structured program, we want it to be a mentorship, to provide guidance and help steer Ryan in the right direction to grow his career." said Morgenthau. The program is in its infancy and depending on its success, BAM may expand it in the future, however the team wanted to stress that it is exclusive and that BAM Racing is not accepting any applications for other development drivers.

Mackintosh will be working with BAM Racing for the immediate future. Ryan said, "I am thrilled to be associated with a NASCAR Sprint Cup team like BAM Racing. I’m glad they see that I take my racing seriously and I hope that I can live up to the expectations they have."
