please tell me your joking about the triad comment.
I think the bigger joke Bob is you think Triad is the issue with speed for this team...

Short of JGR engines, there is no other Toyota engine program that puts out as much hp on a consistent basis. Then take into account Mike Held is giving Robby a hell of a lease deal. I assure you engines are the last place to look for RGMs lack of speed.

I do however agree that this team, especially with a driver that has no experience in a COT, needs to be on the track more during practice.
Sorry guys, not joking. I think Daytona & Talladega are proof of that. Once it got to real racing (Not the first 30 laps when everyone was relaxing) where was he? Not moving forward... Money is tight, so take what you can get I guess... We all know everything adds up to whats wrong and I believe Triad is part of the issue.
There are a lot more issues than Triad, but clearly nothing I am going to say is going to convince you otherwise. Saying Triad is part of the speed issue is like me driving my car once a month and saying I contribute to oil consumption...

Noting plate tracks for hp issues is hilarious, especially considering Robbys cars havent seen a wind tunnel in years.
I did a little research and just noticed all the drivers/teams they are helping... Kyle Busch Motorsports is MAYBE one to brag about. Rusty Wallace's teams are nothing to brag about either.

I see the issue facing Robby and it comes down to money. You get a deal, work with it. I did it with riding a Husqvarna Motorcycle for one year! POS bike but it was given to me by Husky and the Dealer to ride! Suck it-up and take it for what its worth. There are better options IMO.
Bob, What does restrictor plate engines hav to do with non-restictor plate engines?!

I very much believe TRIAD power is not the problem, and set-up issues are. And in my opinion rear sway bar is the biggest problem!
Leaving the rear sway on is a good way to start...

Power means everything at restrictor-plates. Sure the draft means a-lot, but when you don't have the power to maintain the draft or pull out on someone, then I don't think massaging the car anymore is going to help. These cars are so cookie cut now that you can only massage so much!

Think about Pocono's set-up - 3 very long straightaways. Driven allegidly like a road course, so power delivery is key and power is needed!
You get what you pay for.
TRD teams are looking better overall.
And yes, clearly that must be ONLY because of hp. Not seven post time, not engineering development, not r&d, not wind tunnel time, not manufacturer support, or multi-car teams to gain more information. It is clearly ONLY just horsepower...
Like I said before... Everything accounts to the struggles and no-one here knows the exact story.
All those items you list are provided to TRD teams.
Robby chose TRIAD. They're cheaper.
You get what you pay for.
There ain't no free lunch.
So you know what is or isnt provided by TRD? I assure you TRD only has their top teams getting some of that, and a large amount of r&d and testing is done on the teams dime.

But hey, what do I know. I only have friends working with those teams and have worked in the garage area myself. Clearly an arguementative member of the Planet knows more...
