Fuel Mileage and Making the Pit Stops at the Right Time.

Is this Robby's year for a great road course victory?

A short fun quote from Bump-Draft

Whether you love Robby Gordon or hate him- he’s one guy about which everybody has a strong opinion. One thing for sure: he’s his own guy and there’s not another driver in NASCAR like him. He’s a racer’s racer.

Someone once said of Tony Stewart, that he could put four wheels on a cockroach and win a race with it. Robby Gordon would be right there with him….running a special off-road edition cockroach and pushing Smoke all the way home.

His way may not always be right, but it’s his way.

Imo....I honestly believe that Robby is Damn prepared for this weeks race at sonoma.

All Sundays are not created equal. Road course are RGM equalizers and our driver is a hell of a wheel man and I like our chances this weekend.

Every dog has his day and our dog is due.

GAS ON !!!!
Every one will stop as soon as they can make it on fuel. If the race go long with a green white checkers half the feild could run out of gas.
Robby will always be my horse even if he never wins a race.
Now there you go again being all positive and seeing the glass half-full. That kind of talk WILL NOT BE TOLERATED on this board.
I hope they do run PJ the whole race, it has to be tons cheaper to run a whole race at a roadcourse than at say Pocono. Plus if that late race caution is needed PJ can do a nice little safe spin....

matt
careful with the Renault F-1 spin planning scheme.TOG only knows who reads this stuff.LOL
Goal #1 is to get PJ qualified .
TOG says the glass is half full, SAM says it is half empty. An engineer would say the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.;-)
Remember everyone, RG must maintain top 35 in owner point, so its better to get a top 15 than to run out of gas and end up 35th. RG and team must play the hand that is dealt and not run out of gas on the last lap or so just to say I would have won if I didn't run out of gas, It a long season, be smart. No matter how good he is on a road course he will never be able to compete with the high dollar teams until he is a high dollar team. Top Ten would be a great week.
Excellent point -

This is my favorite race of the year
Just wish Nascar would tinker with the fuel cell size or the # of laps...

Whatever way they want to go with it is fine , but it should be either be able to be done on two stops but racing hard the whole time (as opposed to 2 stops and driving around at 85%)....which would require a bigger fuel tank or less laps

OR has to be done on 3 stops and they can race hard the whole time....which would require a smaller fuel cell or more laps...

At present, the fuel mileage scenario with the COT has really hurt this race IMO, and is decent reason why the field has "caught up" so to speak...(and also just the car itself being the other major factor)
The chance of multiple GWC's might change it some. That's quite a few extra laps to have to be ready for, and pitting at the end to make it on fuel for a GWC would really set you back in traffic. I bet some teams account for this in thier fuel strategy.
