Robby is testing the #7 cup car today at Road Atlanta for the upcoming race at Watkins Glen. Also, PJ Jones has been entered in the #7 this weekend at Pocono.
The positive is RGM has enough owner points that it will stay well inside the Top 35. The negative is Labonte & Taxslayer will be with the 71 and running the whole race. If the 34 & 37 run decent they could jump RGM also, dropping RGM from 32nd to 34th or even 35th in Owner Points. (Of course they could gain a ton of points with Watkins Glen the following week).
Hate to see Robby S&P, but again...reality sinking in for sponsorship situation for RGM.
It's also not hard to see how important it is for 2011.
Monster has indicated they like the market strategy they have and it doesn't include Nascar races. (So that will probably not exist). Warner Music and the BAM deal gone. Mapei only runs 2-3 races. Menards seems to support RGM to a certain capacity. Speedfactory could be huge if it sold tons on DVD's or got picked up by a network. It's definitely thinking outside the box and is a great concept. Would be awesome as a video game, imagine Robby Gordon's Speedfactory as a video game...Monster Truck, Score, Dakar, Nascar, Indy, Rally, etc. The positives for 2011 is Indy is likely to change their start times allowing for the double (should help RGM package a deal & exposure), RGM has a good chance to stay inside the Top 35 at the end of the year, schedule changes for next year should help with better options to sponsors. Air Force sponsor will be up with RPM and has to look at all bids (?)
Just hope RGM finds sponsorship soon! These are hard times, but I'm sure RGM will find away to survive!
Sponsorship is a bitch this year. Jayski is reporting that the Finch deal with Hendricks for Kahne to drive the 09 in '11 feel through so the word is Finch is folding that team at years end.
