Was there a "reason for the departure of Gene from the team. I have my own opinions as well as everyone else, some we most likely share. What was the straw? Are we trying to lure Larry Mac out of his cozy home and back into the game with all this madness? I just can't get a grip on this revolving door anymore. Maybe it's none of my business and I should just roll with this punch like the rest in life.

For all we know Gene was hired just to teach Miles Stanlry for awhile.
Mmmmm, no. He had a full time gig with a past champion. He didn't walk away from that to take a part time job as a tutor.
Did he walk away? I thought him and Mike Skinner did not see eye to eye.
I don't want to sound pessimistic about this but I have to wonder if Gene is in search of a new gig with a full time cup team. All of Robby's fans who have watched Speedfactory know Miles from some of the episodes and it is good that we have that or else everyone would be scratching their heads saying, Who's this guy? Is Robby shutting down after WG and Montreal?

Now for the optomistic view: From an earlier episode Miles stated that he wants to be a crew chief. Now he is going to be the CC for Robby at WG. Talk about an opportunity to be a winning CC his first time out. Talk about legendary status if the team pulls this one off. Speedfactory #9 should be REAL good.
Racing is just like any other business, if you are not getting it done, you have to make some changes. Who cares if it was Gene that wanted to walk away or Robby asked him to go, either way...doesn't matter. I really would have like to see Gene setting on pit road eating ice cream after telling him to change four tires and Robby saying No.
Just like Days of Thunder...if you don't need the crew, they can take a break and eat a snack!
One problem we keep hearing about is pit times. We know from the Speedfactory that some / most of the pit crew members have day jobs with companies other then RGM. I wonder if not training together could be a factor in the team's perfomance and CC frustration?
you have to want to run good ............. i think that is long gone no crew cheif no more just drive thru for tires and might as well speed, leave everyone else in the garage to make frantic changes imop
Robby either ran over Gene's backscracher thingie or he just couldn't afford to feed the guy.............
lol.. He was always eating. Funny guy too..
I don't post very often, but here goes... When your name is on the front door and it's your money, you can do whatever the hell you want within the law. Last time I checked the sign on the building says " Robby Gordon Motorsports" and from the "Speedfactory" stickers on his car, it looks like he is paying with his own money. I have been a RG fan since 1992, he has always been his own worst enemy but honestly thats one of the reasons I like him and respect him. He is gonna do things his way and as a fan I hope he succeeds one day, Until then when he shows up to race whatever he is racing, I will be cheering.
same here
Amen kolby1967! You really should post here more often. We can second guess until Cow comes home... However, there is not another person in all of NASCAR racing in Robby's position. No other owner sits behind the wheel. No other driver worries about paying the bills. Maybe Nemechek but he doesn't worry about building his own chassis. Certainly not Stewart with satan covering his back.

Robby and Gene both knew what they were getting into ahead of time. Been there, done that. It happened, on to the Glen. This year may well be a write off. But with the economy stabilizing, I think things can only get better. Gone are the days when a lone rebel could win a championship. But Robby is NOT a quitter! He will find a way to do it. And true fans will feel the pain along with him until he finds that right mix.

Those that are already throwing in the towel, or counting down the days until the team folds, can go chat over at jimmiejohnson.com. You may find more posters that think the way you do.
