Was there a "reason for the departure of Gene from the team. I have my own opinions as well as everyone else, some we most likely share. What was the straw? Are we trying to lure Larry Mac out of his cozy home and back into the game with all this madness? I just can't get a grip on this revolving door anymore. Maybe it's none of my business and I should just roll with this punch like the rest in life.

By Watkins Glen next year RGM will have a Cup victory (hopefully it will come this weekend). Robby is a better driver now then he's ever been, and when he gets the chance he will capitalize on it. True RG fans know it and thats why we get excited for every race.
Screw it!
Id say robby is hard to manage because he knows what is going on and want to be nivolved. most drivers do just that. drive and then fly home. robby is in everything. I can see his point of view if i had that much invested as an owner i wouldn't listen to well either, stability would be good for the team though
The biggest thing I see is that Robby thinks he knows more than any crew chief he has ever had at RGM. This is probably born from his days in the Desert. The man that can drrive the car, make all the repairs necessary to keep running and running fast is much prized. Nascar is different. Robby thinks he knows more than anyone else but he doesn't. Circle track racing is quite a bit different from the desert.
I think he demands that a setup be like he wants whether it is going to be fast or not. I've talked to some people at Hendrick and they say that the big difference between Jimmie and the rest is that he is not afraid to drive one that might be a little bit uncomfortable if it is fast and he is willing to drive one not handling well until he and Chad can get it fixed.
Sounds like he is champ for a reason. I like to see NASCAR drivers with big stones. I respect that courage.
Another thing that might be missed here is Robby's chassis. Something all NASCAR drivers and crew chiefs really like is one that will adjust well during the race. I don't know how Robby's stack up here.
And finally I don't think much of anybody that stomps on people who are trying to help them. You can understand maybe a couple of the CC's having a personality clash but for Heavens sake. I hope he does well despite all that but he is going to have to realize he can't do it all himself - HE NEEDS OTHER PEOPLE and HE SHOULD TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT and DIGNITY.

BRR
Go Tar Heels!!!
BRR nailed it with his last line-and until that day, just pulling rope & sooner or later, your gonna run out!
agreed.
It would be nice if the Planet could do an interview with Robby if he was amenable to taking some questions from his fans; hearing his take on things would be nice.

While Robby obviously wants to be a successful owner/driver - there are some serious impediments to success in this approach. Robby has to recognize that being the owner, driver, crew chief, marketing director, etc etc for NASCAR, off road, and Dakar and doing them all well is not possible. Doesn't mean that he doesn't work hard or have the smarts to do it - it means that he is trying to do too much himself. While I admire his endless energy and stubborn determination, the many priorities of RGM ultimately detracts from all aspects of performance, frustrates Robby and the team, and sets everything back a step. If there is not enough money to hire the people needed, that means something needs to be cut back. It is much better to excel in one area than to kill yourself and everyone working for you trying to do it all. Of course - Robby may prefer to have a full plate and like it this way. While I had never heard of Dakar before I joined the Planet, I now have a great appreciation for this race and the huge effort it takes. I bet many teams spend millions and work the whole year to get ready for it. Much as I love to watch Robby race in cup, I would rather see RGM put all their energy on preparing to win Dakar this year than even fuss with NASCAR. Fork out some money for a decent young driver to race the 7 the rest of the year to keep it in the top 35, and groom them to run a second car or sub for Robby when needed next year. But if there is any year to focus on getting those hummers ready for victory - this is the one - after winning at Watkins Glen!

ps BRR - go to h*ll Carolina!!! go Pack!!!
Sponsors. RGM has to answer to sponsors.
Ok Karen, You might be closer to reality for RGM than most. And remember I have never meet or spoken to Robby in my life but I kind of know racing. As stated RGOR is funded,Robby is a HOT commodity for DAKAR, with government/s wanting to spend there money with RGOR (at least last year).
I disagree about RGM hiring a young driver at this point.Last week PJ made a mistake, but thats NOT his history and he didn't TOTAL the car.So I'd have PJ run the unsold 'short races'. If you think Robby is excitable you should see what it's like to have a young wanting to prove/show something driver in the seat.Keep the 7 in the top 35,look to 2011.
Robby stated there are a number of unsold races, has anyone thought it wouldn't be fair to Gene to a 'short race' crew chief.
Oh, if everyone would think race'n instead on ball sports maybe we wouldn't read so many misguided posts.IMO
Mike, yes you are right about PJ - I would like to see him have the opportunity to run the whole race at WG. Unlike some, I think he did just fine last week - a smart race for a S&P car that ended with a better finish than we have seen at some full races! Good choice to let him drive than getting someone else; he will only get better with more seat time.

I am ready for theSpeedfactory duo to show their stuff this weekend! Go Robby, Miles, PJ and the whole RGM team - let's send some good wishes their way.
To all Robby fans: Cars hit the track tomorrow! Time to shut-down the crap and put some positive chatter behind our favorite driver (and crew chief)!

GO ROBBY! SCREW THE REST!

Miles: Make the call of your life from that pit box on Sunday. (even if it falls on deaf ears)
Robby: I hope you kick-a$$ and win this weekend. F them all! .....Good Luck!
the rest RGM: Thanks for hanging in there and building rockets for Robby & PJ
PJ: I hope you get to run the whole race....Good Luck!
Spotted, maybe Kurt is many time zones ahead of us.Robby has many international fans.
