In the video clip, Robby says Nascar is 80% this year and probably 50% next year of his racing schedule. Robby adds, "That doesn't mean I don't give 100% when I'm behind the wheel."

And I ask why ? Why would Robby run Trucks or NW? Those series DON'T pay. A win in either series pays 1/2 of what start money is in Cup.And all the other (except tire bill) expenses are a push.Without someone throwing down huge dollars, last weekend will be the business model. IMO
I'm in the other 20 % Big O , I've been a fan of Robby's since his early offroad days when he was blasting through the desert in his Class 8 step side 65 Ford pickup . I think if Robby had the big sponsorship and was winning every week he'd be a bore like all the top tier corporate mouth pieces that these other drivers have become . I like that he marches to his own beat and does it his way , if that means less Cup races so be it . Hopefully we'll see him at Indy next year . I don't know how competive he'd be with such a long layoff from open wheel . If he has good equipment it probably wouldn't be long before he's turning compeitive lap times .
$$$$Cup!!
The guy who won that (MT) had some work done by a good friend of mine. I know Robby wants to be a full time full player in CUP because it is the apex and summit of racing plain and simple. However he knows you have to survive and trying to survive is what is going on. Going to a 50% schedule is a realistic way to survive. The sad part however would be that the team would suffer through personnel loss and when it was race time they would not be at the top of the charts. Road races aside.
And if China blew up or was swallowed by a black hole and this country began manufacturing things again the economy could turn around. but by the time that happens and we educated our young every person on this board would be dust blowing in the wind.
If you get on a roller coaster, don't think about getting off, just enjoy the ride. I'm enjoying this one and i'll see everyone in 5 years to talk about it.
Some of you guys are missing the point, I don't wan't to see RG race a N'wide or Camping World series car...I wan't to see him start new teams and have someone else do the driving. Robby will make a great owner, not owner/driver. Richard Childress faced the fact years after trying to win and hired Dale Sr. to drive and now look at that operation. If it's all about $$$, he needs to start building now for a future in NASCAR or just get out of it all together.
yeah, because 1980 Nascar is the same as 2010 Nascar .
If you had a $1 million budget in 1980 you were considered a mega team.
Does any company out there have $15M to spare?
Doug- Ditto on that. Luckily for us, he has no plans on doing so anytime soon.
Keep The Faith!
People forget that Dale Sr. looked ready to replace DW at Junior Johnson Racing in the Bud No. 11 until Earnhardt wrecked himself and DW at Richmond, I believe it was, killing any potential deal.

Anyway, imagine where RCR might be if Dale Sr. had left in 1987 to replace DW. It takes skill, money, know-how, and luck, luck, and then some more luck to build a successful team.

Rick Hendrick didn't win a title until Jeff Gordon showed up, and Gordon almost went to Cup with Bill Davis Racing. Instead, Gordon stabbed Davis and Ford in the back and jumped ship to Hendrick and the rest is history. Where might HMS be if the 24 ride had gone to Kenny Wallace or Bobby Labtone instead?

It takes a lot of fortunate breaks to build a successful team.
Or where might Kenny Wallace be if he had had Ray Evernham. He was actually a pretty good driver (before he became an idiot).
