He's progressing, excruciatingly slowly but progressing none the less
Thanks Extenze for throwing money at Conway and thanks Kevin for bringing it over to RGMS but I can't stand watching this car trawling around at the back every week.Its just dreadful, it hurts almost!
Would in not look better for the sponsor if it had a driver who was competetive.......Like Robby? Who the heck wants to see a car with their name on it at the back week in and out ? Why? Why? Is Conway one of these guys like you get in F1 who has so much cash see (Yamamoto, Chandok) that he buys his way into top line motorsports just so he can brag to his mates that also have tonnes of cash that he's a NASCAR driver? I don't know anything about him so I dont know. What kind of pedigree in autoracing has he arrived with? Has he won any championships before? If he has and he's genuinely learning the ropes then fine but if it's just some kind of toy to him then all he's doing is making him self look silly.
Like I said, I dont know anything about him and Im open to education if anybody can set me straight. Hope this rant hasn't upset anybody, Sorry if it has.
If nascar has a problem with Kevins experience, they wouldn't give him a license. End of the day, he has his cup drivers license, we don't.

Robby will be back at Phoenix & Texas. Nobody says you have to watch KC. I dont get it why people bitch and moan. Like it or not, KC is in the car the rest of the year . Naturally it would be great if Robby has full sponsorship and was driving the car & KC could get that experience from Robby driving a 2nd car.But have you seen the TV ratings ? New $$ sponsors arent banging down the doors to give $$ to raceteams.Enjoy your sundays until RG is back, I guess.. If RG was driving the car tomorrow, it would be parked after passing the last s & p car. Kevin keeps this #7 racing until then. Dont wreck the car, try to beat the #71 & #38.
I heard he was a teacher driver at the petty place. Look up Kevin Conway and front row motorsports lawsuit that might give you a better idea of him.

Seriously, why are people bitchin about KC so much. Give the guy a chance. He is not going to tear up the track over night. These things take time and he is progressing. Anyway, at this point, I don't care if he is at the back during practice. IT'S PRACTICE. The main thing is, is they are running many laps, trying different things in order to have a decent race. Remember, he hasn't seen this track before, it's a new car and he is a rookie.

Honestly, I don't know what people are complaining about. Robby could have shut down RGM a long time ago. He is doing what is best for the team. All this just shows me his commitment to NASCAR and how determined he is to make RGM a competitive team. We have no idea what Robby is going through in order to keep this team going. And I for one, am not going to judge him for anything he does with his team.

We were at Dover last week and I hated seeing KC take that left turn at the end of pit road early in the race. Just gotta ride this thing out I guess.

Rookie Conway Looking Forward to Kansas Speedway – A Track with Some Familiarity and One That Suits His Driving Style

Charlotte, N.C. (Sept. 28, 2010) – There are some tracks on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule that drivers love and then there are some tracks that drivers just absolutely hate. For whatever the reason, some tracks just eat drivers and their cars up but that shouldn’t be the case this weekend for Kevin Conway, the 2010 leading NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year driver.

He heads to a track this weekend with some familiarity and one that suits his driving style. And to make the situation even better Conway will be piloting a brand new No. 7 ExtenZe Toyota from the Robby Gordon Motorsports stables during this weekend’s running of the Price Chopper 400 race at Kansas Speedway.

While Conway has faced many tracks this year for the first time, Kansas is another track on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit where the Lynchburg, Va. Native has some experience at. Conway has two Nationwide Series races under his belt at the mile-and-a-half tri-oval. He finished 24th in 2009 while driving for Dusty/Whitney and 35th in 2007 while driving for Joe Gibbs Racing.

Conway is coming off a 37th place finish at Dover and carries with him to Kansas this weekend, 25 Rookie-of-the-Race awards and now leads fellow Cup Series Rookie competitor Terry Cook in the Raybestos Rookie race by 157 points (195 -38).

ExtenZe Racing Driver Kevin Conway Comments on Kansas Speedway:

“I head to Kansas having two starts there in the Nationwide car and it is a racetrack that I think really suits my driving style so it should be a good weekend for us. It’s a lot like Chicagoland where I had a pretty fast car at earlier this year while running with Front Row. However, I got together with the 21 car at Chicagoland which ended our chances of having a good run. But overall I had a really fast car the whole weekend at Chicago and with the similarities that exist between there and Kansas we should be pretty decent this weekend. I really like the mile-and-a-half tracks and two-mile tracks. They really suit my driving style with the fast speeds and high banking where you can run two and three wide. It helps when you can move around and try various lines to get the car to work for you as best as you can. I’m even more excited to get to Kansas because we are taking a brand new car with us at Robby Gordon Motorsports and another brand new car will be going to California with us so I am really looking forward to these next couple of races.”

Talk about what it’s been like switching teams during the season:

“Anytime you switch teams it’s a huge learning curve to establish new communication between the crew chief, the driver and all the guys on the team so that they understand your terminology and lingo so-to-speak. So when I say how loose the car is for example, it takes some time for the crew chief and the guys to know if I am talking a little loose versus it being completely sideways. It’s just that kind of communication that is key to really hone in on as best as we can and as quickly as we can. Another challenge you face switching teams during the season is that we don’t have any notes to go on from earlier in the year. So basically we are starting from scratch. But at all of us at Robby Gordon Motorsports have been making huge strides on the communication side of things over the last few weekends and it’s only going to get better as the season goes on down the homestretch here.
