GORDON CUTS BACK

Robby Gordon said he will drive in only three of the six remaining races on the Sprint Cup schedule, entering the events at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Oct. 16), Texas Motor Speedway (Nov. 7) and Phoenix International Raceway (Nov.14).

Someone else will be in his No. 7 Toyota in the other three.

Kevin Conway was driving for Gordon at Auto Club Speedway and finished 31st after starting 41st. He needed to rely on Gordon's owner points to make it into the starting lineup after he averaged 177.222 mph in his Camry during Friday's qualifying. That was 8 mph slower than Jamie McMurray's pole-winning speed.

Why wasn't Gordon driving here? After all, this is the hometown track for the Orange resident. Conway brought some money from Extenze to Gordon's team, which was looking for a sponsor for the Pepsi Max 400.

Gordon did climb into the car at the end of the final practice session on Saturday so they could "bounce some ideas off of each other."

"You have to be very creative these days (to get a sponsor)," Gordon said. "Companies still need the market. It is still the best bang for the buck. But the economy has got tighter, and people are watching the bottom line. We have gotten very creative for 2011."

Gordon declined to comment about what he has in store for next season.

no talladega???
Not part of the plan today...but you never know these days...teams can always call an audible
ohh, they are still racing, i thouight the season was over?
I'm not holding my breath or anything, but the other night I was wishin on airplanes in the night sky...
How cool it would be for Monster to put an alternate paint scheme on RG's car for Halloween @ 'Dega?
Something like KHAOS, MIXXD, or the new ABSOLUTELY ZERO...
Again, I fully realize they've fulfilled more than their original 2010 commitments.
But as a loyal consumer, can't help but wanna see my driver rockin their colors 3 wide @ 200 mph...on Halloween
that would be awesome and make too much sense
What makes me mad is Monster stating they really have no intentions of being in Nascar with their marketing plan...but continue to sponsor Ricky Carmichael (now in Nationwide races)...and Jim Beam stating that Nascar didn't fit their marketing plan anymore and would use different areas like Kid Rock's Tour, but recently Jim Beam has been running commercials during Cup races...What's the deal? Jim Beam should have stayed with RGM. Crown Royal continues to stay in Cup and sponsors the full schedule. Jim Beam could have easily stayed on for 10 -12 races. I hate when companies say they're leaving for a specific reason, but don't really leave...just leave RGM!
Ricky allocates his personal services money from Monster to sponsor his nascar endeavors. It is not a very big dollar deal for Turner Motorsports. Ricky could spend it on any type of racing he wants, and he chose to spend it on nascar. Monster still doesn't care either way if they are in nascar or not ,but they do care about their support of The G.O.A.T. & they obviously got his back 100%. good for RC.
a milli a milli a milli.....oh sorry, just broke into some Lil Wayne outta nowhere
i'm game for another monster car.halloween theme would be cool too... i drink the stuff because they sponsor Robby. just so they know.. I do it for robby.
