Will the #48 and Hendrick be treated the same as other teams penalized in the past?

On the way into work this morning it is being discussed on Sirius NASCAR channel about how the #48 team was found to have short wheel studs during Opening Day Inspection. Some of the callers and even the Morning Drive radio hosts said they did not hear allot about, it and all they knew was
that the #48 team went back and fix the problem and rolled through tech later
and passed.

So the question is does NASCAR treat the #48 equally and penalize them like so
many other teams have been in the past? It was also mentioned on the radio and
posted on Jayski last week that all three Chase contender Homestead Speedway
cars were taken to the NASCAR research and development center for a pre-race
inspection. No word if the Phoenix cars were looked at prior to going out to
Phoenix.

Short history of teams and penalties found in Opening day inspection.

2010
#46
Team Penalized For Infractions At Talladega:
Lower A-frames were
filled with weight pellets. $50,000 and 50 points

#7 Team Penalized for Infractions at Darlington: Unapproved additional door
braces. $25,000 and 25 points.

#13 & #47 Penalized For Infractions At Texas: Unapproved added weight,
lower radiator pans. $50,000 & 50 points.

2009

#1 Team
Penalized for Infractions at Chicago: Right rear quarter panel height did not
meet the required specifications
, to high. $25,000 and 25 points.

2008

#7 Team
Penalized for Infractions at Daytona Speed weeks: Unapproved front bumper cover
.
$100,000 & 100 points. (Point penalty rescinded, but the fine
increased to $150,000
.

#66
& #70
Team Penalized for Infractions at Lowe’s Motor Speedway:
Wing mounting locations were not as specified by the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
Rule book. $100,000 and 150 points.

#1 Team Penalized for Infractions at Daytona: Roof of the car does not conform
to the specifications
.$100,000 & 150 points.

I could go on like RG getting fined for the unapproved camera shell or #55 for
illegal manifold and substance. The fact is NASCAR has penalized teams for
violation in Opening Day Inspections and I hope being that the #48
was found to have unapproved wheel studs that they treat them the same as other
teams who have been fined in the past, and not over look it as this is the
tightest Chase in NASCAR history of the Chase format.

Someone else was caught with short wheel studs, maybe the 83 team,if so Jimmy Elledge only got a 25k fine.
they will probaby fine 25 points and $25,000..

and Jimmy will win by one point when Hamlin cant catch him.
ESPN spoke about this breifly at the begining of their pre-race show. They acted as if it was no big deal. I guess they don't want to upset the apple cart.
This was shortly after the opening segment where the booth crew was talking about the track at Phoenix, and all who won there across racing diciplines. Rusty Wallace made a huge gaffe running down the list - "...Al Unser Jr., Mario Andretti, A.J. Fart. mumble mumble ... I said A, J. Foyt, right?"

Uncomfortable faces in the booth, trying hard not to laugh. Rusty is a real douche sometimes.
My 6yo niece caught that, all day it was, he said AJ Fart.Giggle,giggle.repeat
Having short studs is a competitive advantage, and a possible safety issue. If the team really did have them installed, there should be a fine.

There also should have been one against the #1 yesterday for intentionally causing a caution, but we know how that went.
These are the issues that NASCAR should know about... Maybe they read it, maybe not.. but it never hurts to voice your opinion to them.. facebook is an easy outlet.. I urge you all to make this know to them.. the double standard isn't right.. it only hurts the reputation of this sport.
just curious how the offical rule rule reads and how Chad tried to manipulate it.

It seems odd he would gamble with somthing like that this close to the end of the season and so much on the line
I would like to know how they(48) got 89 laps out of 1 tank of fuel???
Same way all the others who pitted on that lap did. They weren't the only ones who made it.
Thanks Brett, I did not check. JJ has done a great job, one of the best drivers of my time.
They never really said how close teams were to making it, except that Hamlin was 12 laps short. JJ and others all pitted at the same time, and that's a heck of a risk for the 48 team to take with a championship on the line.

Since I think Hamlin and Harvick are both punks, I'd rather see the #48 win another one.
