The four wheel class is scheduled to begin at 2:45 pm ( eastern time ) on Thursday, November 18th, and Robby Gordon is the 10th Trophy Truck off the line.Live raceday chat will be available , as well as links to live tracking and the weatherman feed. Well this years Baja 1000 has already had it's first death. A motorcycle rider who was out pre-running was on one of the highway (black top) sections, he supposedly was going to fast and drifted onto the other lane. There was a truck coming at that same time and they hit head on. The rider lost his life in the ambulance to the hospital.

Other pre-run and chase guys have reported seeing several accidents on Hwy 1 this week. Most of Hwy 1 is one lane each way and is a very dangerous road. It is the only main hwy from tip to tip. So it is very common to see simi trucks involved. Those typically dont turn out well. The most dangerous part of racing in Baja is for the Chase and Support guys. I cant count how many driver's side door mirrors have been missing on Ford F350's after a tip to tip Baja 1000. What typically happens is your mirror gets clipped by another passing simi or large truck.

Highway 1 is pretty much 18-20' wide with a 4" drop off the shoulder the majority of the peninsula. Baja truck drivers are some of the best in the world just to survive the highway, oncoming traffic, desolation and cattle.

Note to crew...remember to put on the roof lights at the first pit stop so Robby doesnt have to drive in the dark! :) lol
