# 8 Norman reeled # 21 Gus in at RM 498 and their running together. BJ Baldwin went by RM 480 @ 106 mph
DIRTnewz: #1 Robby Gordon in the SPEED Energy TT still seems to be rocki'n. Looks like he's still running 4th TT.

Your fast John ~ thanks for the update!!!
92MPH on the telogis.com SPEED ENERGY tracking. Maybe he has a little clean air, maybe a change in position coming soon.
Bucket list: i yearn to attempt this race before i pass on... if & when i get the funding. Anyone care to join me? Don't stop dreaming or life would be more boring.
Do i sense another pitstop as the tracker reflects he's alongside both support vehicles??
It's a pretty normal place to pit. I helped pit Robby there a million years ago and it is an absolute zoo with spectators. Had to get people out of the way to get the jack under the back and to roll the new tires up. It was a total mob scene full of people getting next to the truck to take pictures and just generally get in the way. The coolest thing was after Robby pulled out people were asking for souvenirs that we didn't have. I gave one of them an empty fuel drum and they carried it off over their head with a huge crowd following them. Like it was a parade and they were following a holy statue. I wish I had the time to snap a picture but we were trying to put as much stuff in the truck as fast as possible so it didn't get stolen. It was surreal. Probably normal for Robby though. lol
Wow John! What memorable story & thanks for sharing. I'm sure Robby appreciated your helping & i'll never forget this either. If it was that long ago perhaps it was his first win around the time he was a young 18? Tell me more when you're up to it.
Not much to it besides that. I was with another TT team and we teamed up with 2 other TT teams to help eachother pit. We pitted 3 TT's, well, 2 the one I was chasing blew a tranny 50 miles before us and they called it a day so we pitted 2 of them. Robby's stop was the craziest I have ever done. We always get a lot of spectators at TT pits but they normally give you plenty of room to work. This time was insane but Robby is a rock star in Baja and I am sure gets mobbed everywhere he goes.

I was with a different team in 2000 for the B2k so it was after that but it was a peninsula run. I would have to dig out some old BFG chase books to figure out which race it was but 2002 would be my best guess.
Yeah buddy ~ the profigal son of Baja & taking after Father (Bob) in good fashion. Perhaps i'll make it down there one day to watch or help out if possible.
Does anybody know who's the Navigator/Co-Pilot with Robby? I know it's typically Andy Grider but haven't heard for sure. Thanks!
#21 Gus, #8 Norman and #97 BJ Baldwin are running together heading into pits at San Ignacio - could be a lot on the line ala Nascar in about a half hour. Robby appears to have pitted back up the course a way - at least I hope that's why he was stopped with two support vehicles. Get your popcorn and beer now.
Popcorn. Good call! I knew the beer was missing something.
