Does anyone have any idea if there will be any changes made to the restrictor plate that was used last year.

They had changed the plate just before the start last year giving a hugh advantage in the HP to weight ratio to the VW's and I was wondering if Team Hummer got some of that back this year.

That's just rude.....the man keeping Rob down!
I thought I remember reading that RG will have a bigger SIR this year. TOG? I looked at the rules last year, but I have not yet this year.

Just checked the rule book for 2010 and 2011 as far as I was able to make out there is no change. So guessing the engine has more than 2 valves per cylinder Robby is running a ∅34 restrictor
he is a 2v engine, I thought he used an LS7, so it would be 36.2mm as a seeded driver

If he's running a LS7 you're right. I wasn't able to find the specific 36.2mm where did you find that.
Yeah, I don't see 36.2mm either. It looks like 35mm, or 37.2mm if he's in the over 5250cc classification in section 1P1.1.

Reads like NASCAR rule book: Confusing. If it's over 320.4 ci. it looks like a 37.2mm restrictor is required. Yet, if it has 2 valve heads, a 35mm restrictor is required.

The bottom line is the Hummer will still be forced to suck air through a straw.
So WJM,are you say'n a small bore,long stroke engine is need'd?
Definitely. 230 ci 4 cyl supercharged Offy. Long stroke version of the one that powered the Lotus T90. Small footprint, lightweight, big hp and fat torque curve. Good on fuel and about as complicated as an claw hammer.
Thanks for the responses,
I just remembered Robby in 1 or 2 of the post day talks mentioning how they had spent the year preparing for a larger plate and when they got there, or shortly before they left, they were informed that that plate size had been reduced leaving him at a hugh disadvantage for top end speed.
So is they are indeed using the same size plate this year they can do some tweaks to gearing, carburation valve work that can pull more out of what they have to work with.
I guess we just need to hope there is not another last minute change.
Not that they are picking on Robby but the big buck corporate teams rule the roost on this crap just like Nascrap.
In the Dakar rules it said 37.2 mm and if you are seeded 36.2 mm.

matt
The seeded difference must have gone away for 2011, so I think he can run 37.2mm
