The plans are in its early stages, but supposedly this fall there will be a Monster Truck racing event held at Daytona, with open qualifying, and the winner taking home 25k. This is mentioned towards the bottom of the USA-1 article:
Will mainly depend on what he breaks during the show. Two crew guys are more than enough for a single truck. You're not going to get rich running a monster though, regardless of what promoter you run for...
This is a cool article. It's nice to see they are looking to bring back the old style monster truck racing. USA-1 was my favorite as a kid and will be awesome to see again. Like most major sports, the original idea and style got diluted with money and purpose built race machines. I lost interest when they went to aftermarket bodies on tube frames and stopped crushing cars. Now they just fly over mounds of dirt and don't even touch the cars.
Yeah it's exciting to see such heavy trucks able to accelerate and fly through the air like they do, but I miss the old school charm of a pickup jacked up with huge tires lumbering over a set of cars. I hope they bring back some of the oddball things like mudbogs, tractor pulls, tug-of-war or even floating them on water again. Remember when they started putting minivan bodies on tanks? Those were awesome too.
It is you should come if your in the area i run in the tuff truck class and my truck is painted up like Robby's short course truck
We have an absolute ball i also have a 4wd pulling truck and am in the process of building a monster truck does anyone have any pics of Robby's monster truck the only pics ive seen he does'nt have a body on it . Is it gonna be the same SPEED paint scheme either the orange S on black or the black on orange ? It'd be cool to make a replica
