Just a reminder that Robby Gordon will appear live on the TORR ( Totally Off Road Radio ) website tonight ( 5/18/11 ) at 8:00pm/et ( 5:00pm local time )
Hummer at Baja... Robby mentioned probably have the car at all Cup races (for points & money) and RG will race about 15 of the remaining races!!!! Will the Hummer be replaced for Dakar with something new // ?
Awesome to hear RG and Steve Sourapas's Crest Beverage were able to work something out! RG said something about Red Bull changing their distribution format. Crest has been under an exclusive contract and was not able to distribute any other energy drinks. But when you are the only one with RB and Coors why would you want another energy drink? I'm guessing that because Crest will work with Speed in Mexico it will not effect Crest's deal with RB in So Cal?
I heard that no mas RedBull in Tijuana they closed their office and only have the headquarters in Mexico city and almost all the people that have worked for Redbull in Tijuana are getting hired to work with the Speed energy program in Baja California.
The interview is on the front page... Robby states that because of the poor starting spot (27th) they elected to race the Hummer. The strategy is they won't have to pit at all. The race is 500 miles, and the Hummer gets about 5 MPG and has a 110 gallon tank onboard...so hopefully as others pit, RG will drive on by.
On the Cup side, RG mentioned that because of Nascar's Top 35 rules and money payouts, they will likely have the 7 car at all the events, but RG will only race about 15 of the remaining races. That awesome news! (Considering RG only planned to race 12-15 races and now looks like 25 out of 36 races). IMO- I hope that Hornish gets in the car at Pocono, even if it's a start & test. Hornish had his best 2 finishes last year at Pocono, be good to get his feedback on that track.
I would love to see them just let Sam race the whole thing at Pocono. At least in the first race and let that dictate what happens from there. It would be interesting I think.
