Very disappointed RG is scheduled to S&P at Dega mainly because it was one year ago at Talladega that Robby crashed the AMP 500 with his launch of SPEED Energy!

It all started with a publicity stunt of RG getting "caught speeding" on a Charlotte Interstate in a Cup car. Many reporters believed it was a publicty to launch his SpeedFactory.TV on Speed (Cable channel). We all waited ofr thr press conference at Dega. It turned out RG launched his own sponsor & product SPEED Energy! He gave out samples and had a few hats & shirts, SPEED girls walking around with Speed Unmbrellas. His own personal truck with "SPEED Energy" on the side got towed from inside the track due to sponsor ambushing.

Robby Gordon holding press conference Friday: UPDATES: From a media advisory: "SPEED and running on high Octane are nothing new for Robby Gordon - that's what Robby Gordon Motorsports is built around. But on Thursday, October 28, 2010, Gordon was caught driving an illegal NASCAR race car at a high rate of SPEED [see an image at Planet Robby] on Highway 77 in Huntersville, NC that slowed down portions of the interstate due to the scene. Gordon was questioned before being released by local authorities. He will be on hand at Talladega Superspeedway and available to answer any questions regarding this event and how it could affect the future of Robby Gordon Motorsports.(RGM)(10-28-2010)
UPDATE: Robby Gordon has created an energy drink company that he hopes will generate enough revenue to sponsor his Robby Gordon Motorsports race team. Gordon unveiled plans for the company, Speed Energy, Friday at Talladega Superspeedway. Gordon wouldn't commit to running all the Sprint Cup races next year but said he personally will run the first five as well as the "fun" events in big markets. Gordon, whose team is 34th in the owner standings, said he plans to run in the Indianapolis 500 as well as off-road events such as the Dakar Rally. He hopes the energy drink helps generate more sponsorship money for his race team. The energy drink's name goes along with Gordon's website, Speedfactory.tv, that shows video clips of his race team's preparation for events. He said distribution of the drink should begin soon. The drink currently is being bottled in the Charlotte area. Longtime Gordon attorney Steven Nichols will be an owner of the drink company along with Gordon, who has represented Red Bull and Monster energy drinks in the past.(Scene Daily)(10-29-2010)
UPDATE 2: SPEED Energy announced that it will sponsor Robby Gordon, one of the most diverse drivers in motorsports, for two of the remaining NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races this season. Built for SPEED, the #7 SPEED Energy Toyota will debut this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway, one of the fastest racetracks in the world and again in the season-ender at Homestead-Miami Speedway. SPEED Energy is available in three flavors: Unleaded, Fuel, and Octane, which provide the human machine with the fuel it needs to keep up with the SPEED of life. SPEED Energy will be available nationwide in major retailers, convenience stores, grocery stores, bars and nightclubs.(RGM), see an image of the car on the #7 Team Scheme page.(10-29-2010)

It was a huge day for RG fans, RGM & SPEED Energy. Was hoping for something BIG at Dega to mark the one year anniversary. Totally understand the sponsorship dynamics & challenges, but what a great opportunity to mark the 1 year anniversary of SPEED Energy.

Hopefully at the 5 year mark, many teams & owners will look back and see RGM did something incredible that day. Perhaps a day that changed the sport & the way teams looked for sponsorship.

was cought off guard last year, I was expecting a Speed Factory story.
It's a shame Speed Factory was stopped. I used to look forward to that alot. It had some great behind the scene stuff. I really wish it would continue. Anyway Congrats to Robby and the gang on the 1 year anniversary. Hopefully it continues to grow.
We'll always have the "Stiffy-mobile" episode
