When you look back at NASCAR 10 years ago teams & drivers could easily be identified by their sponsor. Bill Elliott - Coors, Davey Allison - Texaco, Jeff Gordon - Dupont, Rusty Wallace - Miller, Dale Earnhardt - GM Goodwrench, etc. But today, you can only find a few teams with one sponsor for a full season, actually only 10. The rest of the Nascar Cup teams are scrambling to fill space and add funds. The TV packages are split, could the Nascar series be next "Sprint - Coors Cup"? Can you say "Corporate Greed".
if 'corporate greed' really should read Brian France's greed,I'm in total agreement.
MK.......may I rephrase it "France Family Greed"
My two cents... If you want to cut the team costs, have the manufacturers build the and certifiy the cars and motors. The teams would lease and race them with insurance coverage to cover damages. All cars come of from the manufacturer ready to race and flat black. Teams would only be allowed to change the setup package paint them and put on the decals. After each race the team would send the car back to the manufacturer for updates, reparts and maintenance.
And where would this series be run in....................RUSSIA and of course the insurance Co. would be PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE....what a joke. For all of you political geeks look up who owns Progressive. Inc. :-)

Oh I forgot the cars should be painted ............are you ready.......RED.
Sounds like the Corvette Challenge 1989/1990 time frame. Was an exciting series and the old race cars are now worth some bucks but it failed
Forget NASCAR, call George and Jay Signore and let's bring back IROC! I lived about 2 miles from the IROC shop in New Jersey back in the early 90's. Too bad they couldn't find a sponsor. That was a better gauge of a driver's skills that today's NASCAR racing. Maybe they should have looked into a Multi Sponsorship Package.

I am never a fan of quoting Days of Thunder but, "There is nothing STOCK about a Stock Car."
IMO- The quickest fix would be for NASCAR to increase the purse for all 3 series with enough to cover the teams race expense. Teams can find sponsorship to generate dollars for hiring better employees, crews & equipment. But, the winnings should be enough for each to team to race a full race. Even if the purse is increased at the bottom and awarded +500 per position higher. (Example: 43rd would pay $300,000, 42nd $300,500, etc.)
Welfare for SnP teams!
Or a two tier payout. Current purse for <75% race run and higher purse for complete races.
how about Na$crap stop charging teams $600-1000 per crew member on race weekends ,$5k per entry,
certification fee's on parts and chassis, ect, ect.
Do you all really believe Brian France has no idea how much money owners are or aren't making?
Just remember that Na$crap lower'd purse's (alot) in the N/W and Truck series.Sinking teams at a faster rate. For that matter CUP purses overall are lower than years past.
I heard today 3000 per hr for wind tunnel time that is stupid.
