Trevor Wood Bros talks Talladega race

After lots of controversy over Trevor Bayne's decision to bail on Jeff Gordon, Wood Bros talks about the race (XM SIRIUS RADIO). "We were loyal to the ones that took care of us." (Meaning 2 parts, they were loyal to Robby Gordon because he was loyal to them all day, and loyal to Ford. When Robby had issues and Trevor was in position to assist Jeff Gordon or help Matt Kenseth, he dropped back to help Matt - well to help Ford.)

Ford Racing is Wood Bros. Their team carries Ford all over it. "Had Jeff not been in The Chase it would have been different, but I had to be a team player, for Ford."

Brett Crawford nailed it. "It's happened before that I'm sure as well. Ford was just stupid enough to make it public..."

The problem I think most are seeing is the fact that NASCAR has been very clear and adamant about not manipulating the outcome of a race. Perfect example was JJ Yaley pushing Matt Kenseth as Matt was running out of gas, RG throwing out roll bar padding to cause a caution. Dale Jr deliberately spinning out to cause a caution.

NASCAR does not have issues with manufactures working together and helping one another, but they dont want it altering the outcome of a race. When David Gillian says he will not be working with Tony Stewart because we are going to be "One Ford team" and then Trevor saying "I'm not happy about what this has become, It's too premeditated".

My guess is NASCAR knows these teams are going to work together for the better of their team and manufacture. But NASCAR has to look at what was publicly said and how the perception of NASCAR could be effected by this.

The sad part of the whole deal is the 7 was very fast and people acted like it was a surprise. And none of the commentators on sirius or on TV said anything about the FACT that if it wasnt for the 7 that Trevor Bayne probably wouldnt have been in the position to win in February. Sometimes a very capable race driver in a good race car gets overklooked. It is a shame Robby doesnt have better results to show for it. Also like the run he had at Phoenix in the spring, being careful and car control kept him from tearing up a fast race car, put him behind in a race that according to my stopwatch had him faster than anyone there.
The sun dont shine on the same dogs ass everyday, and maybe it will shine on the 7 soon....

I watched the race on TV and heard one of the commentators say something like...here comes Gordon and Bayne coming to the front, something we'll see more of I'm sure....I was trying to listen, but was cheering to freakin loud! We all know he can do it! It was just great to see that car cruising past the field!

A little bit more from Trevor:

We did not want to affect anyone in the Chase, and on Friday, Robby Gordon and I discussed the possibility of working together during the race. Our plan was to lay low and do our own thing. He was more than happy to stay with us for the entire race, but I told him if there was a Ford in need, we would have to leave him to assist. We worked well with Robby early on, coming from 12 seconds back at one point and going to the lead. I felt like our car was among the fastest in the field and with momentum we could push any car to the front. I lost Robby down the stretch and picked up fellow Ford driver Marcos Ambrose late in the race. We were extremely fast, but just as things looked promising, Marcos got tangled up in a wreck that put him in the back of the field.

Trever sounds more mature than many.

I have actually learned a lot this week. Life is not always easy, and sometimes we are faced with tough decisions that are presented to us in the blink of an eye. We have to stand by those decisions, and at the end of the day, I'm confident that I made the right choice, even if not an easy one.

If When Could Should...............Life is not an if when could should ect. ect...............ect. If you (the entire population of Earth) could remove from your heads any inclination of "if, would have, could have and should have" your head would..........DOH.....it aren't easy is it. What happened happened and it happened to us, it just so happened the "BIG STAR" was involved in what happened and if it were that it happened to any other ........
It's a funny puzzler that the 7 is so taboo, why we have no partner I am at a loss to explain. Perhaps (the lone exception to the speculative is "perhaps" it makes one sound so refined and asinine at the same time. For example say to the boys "perhaps we should get a decanter of wine instead of beers"....and maybe.... to hell with that shit) Perhaps i'm getting a bit what some would say is old or bitter because i'm sick of dealing with what might ofs and all that. I say i'm more refined, and perhaps we would have been left alone to try and find another car to draft with if the race saw a Ford alone and in the chase and Kurt Bush would have followed the car in front of him instead of turning left and Bobby Labonte would not have been hooked and rearended and.........What a second how come nobody is all up in arms about the fact that Bobby Labonte said the helicopter was not for him but for a fan and "so that's good".....sure he said well not for them but.......It never matters what you say it's what you do..... if you could be charged for your thoughts which are words nobody can here we would all be in trouble, it's what you do not what you think or say but then again you can be charged for an action much not your own action but a reaction without intent that causes harm but against your own will so to speak thus.........well. I think i'll go dig up that clip of Bogart playing with his balls now, if you made it this far i'm sure you understand what happens is reality not what would have could have or should have but did. All be it in the end asine.

Interesting observation, Michael. However, you didn't take into account that if the race had been rain delayed until Monday there could have been that odd chance the tires could have equalized overnight thus changing the dynamics of the pull-push tandems and.... Oh my God, is that a Hyundai pulling onto the track? Well, that changes everything. See, this is why, overall, the V8 Supercar series is a better product and why the taste and texture of Eggo waffles can never be duplicated, not even by Aunt Jemima. And then there's that comet thing that fizzled. Anyway, if it were Travis Kalfnipple instead of Trevor Bieber, would anyone give a shit? Probably not. I'm off to Cheyenne to buy nuts and bolts. Thanks for the reminder.
