Every few years NASCAR goes thru down years where there's a drought in drivers available, this ain't one of those years! With so many teams being forced to close their doors or scale back to limited schedules, the talent pool of drivers to pick from increase. Consider it an Owner's market. This extends to crew members, shop & engine personnel also. This should help teams outside the Top 20 add better personnel at cheaper prices. Front Row Motorsports has already indicated they're expecting to upgrade their driver lineup. FRM could sign Vickers, Reutiman & Ragan and instantly upgrade over their lineup last year. That lineup would give them 3 drivers that have already won at the Cup level. That move would put drivers like Gilliland, Kvapil & Yeley back into the pool for Start & Park teams needing fill-in drivers on occasion.

IMO - RGM has the opportunity to hire better personnel and get a driver like Gilliland to fill in at S&P races. Of course this would be only if RGM repeats this years schedule & plan.

alot of stuff in Nascar 2012 will be 25th hour type deals. Reality is if a team doesnt have funding, they have to keep all options open until as late as possible.

Ganassi is cleaning house! Montoya's got a new CC last week and EGR just let 3 of their top managers go today.

I understand that 2012 may be alot like 2011, but is there a plan, although limited, for RGM to be envolved in NASCAR? This may have been answered on privious threads and I have just missed it. As much as i hate what NASCAR has become, I still look forward to seeing that #7 running around the track.

Thanks

Don't forget RGM got several races with Fast Five / Dodge deal. Hopefully the team has some irons in the fire to replace those events, if not funding will probably mean less full time races. Just a guess, but I would think alot of races will be shelf-swap deals and hopefully some new partners.

Bobby Labonte's team has done a great job at selling sponsors 1-4 races deals. They have like 15 primary sponsors. Look for more and more 1-4 race deals with several teams.

There will be plenty of drivers with a Cup license available next year. It's a matter of what driver wants to be in the Cup garage bad enough to take a S&P ride.

I agree, but from reading most drivers comments it appears it's better to drive a S&P than sitting at home. The old "out of sight - out of mind". Look at Yeley & Scott Speed, both were basically forgotten until they started driving S&P rides. You never know where it can lead.

I would expect a few to run nationwide in a competitive ride- making it even harder on the up & comers.

Nice Thread, made me think....the beginning of the new season is always exciting cause we are all waiting for the news that RGM creates. Anticipation...like when he switched to Dodge. There is always info that us Planet Members are waiting for..

I hear KC is available

Actually, from posts on KC's Facebook page, it sounds like he's pretty close to putting together a deal to get back to racing full time. I have no idea how/why people keep bringing him or Extenze aboard, but they do.

RETAINER!

Maybe RG should try extending his Speed Brand to compete with the male enhancement products. It seems like from all the commercials for those products, a growth market.
