Bob, the biggest chunk of time was the 300 getting stuck. How can prep fix that? and the 303 is in 4th 13 min back.
Going to try and change the vibe in here a bit... I'm raising one of my SPEED Ethanol's (Just passed out two more in the office to two of my co-workers) to celebrate the 2nd place Stage finish! I've got a good feeling these gremlins will be behind us and Stage Wins are in the future! SPEED on
Exactly, Robby's in a great spot with a long time to go.
I think Nasser knows what he is doing, it is not like this is his first race. Even if he tears up the equipment, everyone is taking notice. Should be exciting to the end.
from Dakar.com:
car 303 - Robby GORDONWe've got a long way to go
I actually kind of paced it the whole time and we didn't have any problems. Our car works good enough on those type of sections. I was surprised that we got beat by Holowczyc, he did a great job, but for us to beat Peterhansel by 3 minutes was good and that makes up a little bit of the distance. I think we beat De Villiers by about ten minutes, so I'm going to say, looking at what we see right now, we're probably in third position and we've got a long way to go. I'm not even driving the car that hard.
going at a conservative pace seems to be working well for Robby, perhaps he should keep this up until the later stages. Driving like a madman now will get one in trouble.
how happy is RG with his co-pilot. haven't heard any comments.
I think we are seeing the difference between Nasser who is going hard and Gordon who is driving conservative. It seems Nasser is making up tons of time and then makes a mistake which causes him more time. Almost like Robby is previous years. - I think it is a great strategy to run like a Mini for now and then drive like a hummer at the end.
RG is a showman, I would bet after the rest day (and 2nd truck makes it to camp) it's ball to the wall....
Nasser has proved that the Hummers are FAST. If it wasn't for the 2 mishaps the last 2 days, he would be in contention for the overall lead. Long way to go and the Hummers are the class of the field. Let's see what tomorrow brings.
