STAGE 9 TRACKING

STAGE 9: Antofagasto > Iquique

Connection 9km | Special Stage 556km | Total 565km

COURSE OVERVIEW

A two-part stage will keep the competitors busy who continue the climb to the north of the continent, between oceans and mountains. Two sections separated by a neutralization are on the agenda with varied features and landscapes. At the beginning of the day, the competitors will pass through canyons, drive on clean tracks and sink in the fesh fesh?! The second special stage will call upon the drivers' and co-drivers' navigational talents, who will have to make a decision based on the very limited landmarks, while remaining focused on the WPM. To reward them for this intensive endeavour, they will drive down the steep descent to Iquique, already featured on the 2010 Dakar route, to the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

2:20 over Peterhansel @ WP6

does anyone know how the neutral stage section works

Time is suspended. Must obey speed limits. Special stage time resumes at the restart after the neutral section.

It's just a standard liaison, just in the middle instead of at the end. Not sure about take off order after it though, if they re-queue or not.

yea I was wondering about the starting order, looks like a little over a 100 KM, so should be maybe an hour or 2 before the restart

WOW!
Robby lost bigtime from WP6 to WP7

yep, PHansel really closed the gap.

Robby @ WP7 4:36 over ROMA

Damn Peterhansel made up time that last stage :36 back

Peterhansel and Holo both made up 2 minutes in that last stage. According to the chart there was a lot of dirt on that stage, so better for the Mini's.

Lets hope that a light fuel load + downhill + sand = a Mini beat down in the last section of the stage.

We'll see, not much race course left for today...
