STAGE 9: Antofagasto > Iquique
Connection 9km | Special Stage 556km | Total 565km
COURSE OVERVIEW
A two-part stage will keep the competitors busy who continue the climb to the north of the continent, between oceans and mountains. Two sections separated by a neutralization are on the agenda with varied features and landscapes. At the beginning of the day, the competitors will pass through canyons, drive on clean tracks and sink in the fesh fesh?! The second special stage will call upon the drivers' and co-drivers' navigational talents, who will have to make a decision based on the very limited landmarks, while remaining focused on the WPM. To reward them for this intensive endeavour, they will drive down the steep descent to Iquique, already featured on the 2010 Dakar route, to the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

NASCAR DOES NOT control their website, it's done by Turner aka CNN. You see how crappy their news coverage on their news networks is, you expect them to cover worldwide news on a website they run for a sport? Hell even CNN SI supposedly had a nice article for him except they got his name completely wrong, like "Bobby Gorden" or something like that. So I highly doubt the bloggers that they employ to post articles on NASCAR.com (which really is nothing but a giant blog anymore) even know that this race is happening.
Honestly other then today to see if there was an article put up after you posted your post (or if you missed it) I haven't been on NASCAR.com in well over a year. Why? Because there is no need to go there, everything you can find there you can find at Jayski, Speed TV, Facebook, Twitter, & Various Forums and 99% of the time they have better/more news then the series website has.
now they can put speed energy body on the other hummer and have BajaBob cruise it around. That would sell some drinks!
I'm putting my vote in for "Baja Bob's Dakar Highlight Reel"!
Also I just saw on RDC and RDC's facebook that Peterhansel might be getting a penalty. Is this correct? Or am I late in getting the word?
It would be great if he did....
@carltonkirby: Hot phones: Remember Goncalves left in the mud after helping Desprais? BMW who own Husky have complained at board level to KTM. Not happy!
And unhappy they should be to put it nicely it was terribly unsportsman like for Despres to accept help then not to reciprocate in other words "Chicken Shit"
I want to say thnks to TOG for the race day chat and to Mike K for doing what needs to be done, Franco our man in the clutch and jaci, tool, JR, WJM, 7gas, Chupa, etc etc Thanks for making it fun and informed. 5 more days for our boy to pull this thing off, and maybe just maybe he's gotten into Peterhansel's head just a little, that's all he needs is to open up a little crack to get the upperhand. Optimistic? yes but hoping for the best. I still don't don't think that Nasser is a good fit for how RG runs his operation it's not what he's used to and thats okay I'm sorry if he truly is out at this point he brought us some serious enjoyment over the last week and a half best of luck to him. Fingers and toes crossed for the next 5 stages here's hoping for the coveted overall for RG!........GAS ON ROBBY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here is the video of Peterhansel hitting the bike rider in the river.
Robby was very fast when downhill 195 km/h!
Thanks for the video I would hate to see robby take the overall lead on a penalty to Peterhansel, but that didn't look good at all he was obviously trying to thread the needle but contact with a stopped unseated rider like the type we saw is unwarrented. That said I want Robby to beat Peterhansel straight up, we'll see what happens?
