COURSE OVERVIEW
The drivers will be overcome with even more intense sensations early in the morning. My assumption is that the FIA is a big and ponderous governing body who's decisions take a long time to make, so it's possible that Robby will be allowed to race to the end.

Let me see now.. A French based rally with French officials and a French guy leading in danger of being overtaken. Oh Yes, don't forget that the highest profile guy in the FIA is French. I'm not liking this one bit. This seems to me to be another Paul Tracy Indianapolis 500 fiasco where we don't want outsiders playing in our ballpark. If you all recall PT won the Indy 500 that year but because he was a CART driver in the IRL ballpark they took it away from him on some BS yellow light deal.
Don;t want to be a "Negative Nelly" but this has conspiracy written all over it.

In the Stage 10 report at Dakar.com was this:
It should be noted that the car race officials' committee today published the following press release: “On completion of the 9th stage (Antofagasta-Iquique), following observation of technical non-compliance on vehicle No. 303 (Robby Gordon) (article 1P and 3P of the technical rules), the Car Race Officials' Committee has decided to disqualify No. 303 from the race. The driver has appealed against this decision. During appeals, decisions are placed on hold. As a result, vehicle No. 303 will continue the rally until the outcome of the appeal”.

It's still not clear what the engine issue is. When this was first reported it seemed to have something to do with the intake manifold....some kind of restrictor-plate issue. But articles keep referring to "the engine ventilation system"....whatever the heck that is.
I think the issue is that RG needs to run a restrictor intake opening on the V-8 to limit power. The size is mandated by the rules. Since the air intake is located away from the engine to keep water and dirt out some sort of modification was made between the engine and the restrictor. Could be for any number of reasons. RG says it does not effect engine performance. The rally scrutineers say it does. That is the issue from what I can tell.
