STAGE 12: Arequipa > Nasca
Connection 412km | Special Stage 245km | Total 657km
COURSE OVERVIEW
Only a flight over the region can allow the Nazca Lines, mysterious motifs created in the ground more than 2,000 years ago, to be admired. The route of the special stage creates another line on the map of Peru which looks like a sand dragon. Although the areas of dunes are evenly spread out, the competitors will definitely remember one of them, which made a deep impression on the reconnaissance team. The dunes follow one after another continuously for almost twenty kilometres, transporting the drivers to a new dimension. As the sand will remain firm in this string of dunes, it will help the drivers to cross them without too much difficulty. But the most skilled dune-crossers will nevertheless be able to create a surprise, in particular three days before the final finish. Those who remember how to perform the "Mauritanian swerve" can save some precious minutes.

This is ABSOLUTELY great! He plugged the "offending" air line and as he said, "Doesn't do shit."
That's what he told 'em he was gonna do: plug the sucker (or redneck blower) and win the stage.
Not only won, but put a hurtin on every other competitor in the class.
Gas on, bro!!!
RG is a throw back A.J. SR. &R.G. REAL RACERS
can someone type out what he said in his interview? I am a deaf RG fan and after reading all the planet fans going nuts over the interview, I would like to know what he said. And for who ever found that steam link eurosport, thank you.
It'll take a coupla minutes..hang tight.
Not exact, but you'll get the drift.
RG: Kiss my ass! Come here and look.
RG: We got 20 minutes--pipe plugged.
Commentator: (Laughs) Now there's a man who's happy. Robby Gordon wins the stage, and he wins it, taking 15 minutes outta the field. Unbelievable. Now what's he showing us? (Laughs) Trying to shoe us something--Don't break the car, Robby. For goodness, sake.
RG: 20 Minutes with the pipe plugged.
Commentator: 26 minutes quicker than Stephan Peterhansel today; 23 minutes quicker than Roma. Ten Brink finished 4th today 22 minutes and 6 seconds. I dunno if he knows Novitsky's time yet. Now. What are you showing us Robby? (Laughs) Is he going to show is the bit that's been questioned by the...
RG: Here. Here it is. Come. Bring the camera right up.
Commentator: unintelligible
RG: See this pipe is plugged. Doesn't do shit!
Commentator: There ya go. Apologies for the language. There ya go, Robby Gordon says...
RG: Gonna be an embarrassment from here on.
Commentator: (Laughs) He's in fighting mode, Robby Gordon. Well, this is fantastic. I'm not sure how much of this is gonna get in the program tonight, but you've seen it here if you joined it live. Completely fantastic.
Live interviewer: (unintelligible)...to you winning this stage?
RG: Yep. My main feeling? That the inspectors can kiss my ass. They approved this, they've embarrassed me, the other competitors say I'm cheating. I beat 'em 20 minutes with it plugged. Pisses me off. We play fair and square . We came to the Dakar to win and we made a bad decision yesterday to replace the hub. We shoulda just put grease in the CV; go on and win the rally.
Commentator: There you are. So, uhh...the...the thing in question. the...plugged up. That thing is still somewhat of a mystery cuz it's very hard to get a straight line on it. But..umm...the air, whatever it is...was plugged up today by Gordon just to prove that it had no performance advantage and he has won the stage 20 minutes clear of most the field. He wasn't aware that Novitsky...he wasn't aware of his time. He's just come in. 15 minutes and 18. Hence the confusion. No doubt about it, He took it and he'll be leading out tomorrow and y'know what? He doesn't care.
Thanks a million Ray... I got the drift clearly....
No prob, man. It was...as others have said, the best interview, ever.
I'd love to have a transricpt to can't watch video at work or get chat
LMAO.......I would gladly teach Robby the international sign language of Kiss MY Ass that even someones 90 year old grandmother from France would understand.......
Thank you Doug
