COULDNT HAVE SAID IT ANY BETTER

I'm with NIKAL on this, it was definitely a WTF kind of race, for many different races. "I've seen fire and I've seen rain" quite literally this year for the 500.

What are the chances of hitting a jet dryer under caution at Daytona? Juan in a million....

I was watching the race with a caveman friend of mine and he says to me during the fire delay ...he says to me "this reminds me of the time ought farted too close to the fire.....yea we invented that also". Then he asked me when I was going to teach him to read and write. Screw him, the last thing we need is a guy with opinions on everything who can read and write. Danicrash Patrick he came up with that as well. I looked to see if anybody from the crowd maybe caught the whole thing and posted it to youtube but of all things there are people who video the replay with a hand held on the TV and post that....I mean what the hell, in this day and age. Then my friend says (yes we all call him cave if you are wondering I mean we say "hey man" to everyone else and so....) Anyway we are looking for a video and there is nothing but this hand held filming of the TV shit and he says to me "that's bullshit, even I could do that". I just looked at him and he looked at the floor and we could see the commercialism of it all and some how by the grace of the unbreakable evolutionary chain we found in an instant our shame as consumers.
Gas On

As I said on the chat it would have taken a 6th place in the race to get back the 150k (or lead at half way) if that is indeed how much a restristor plate engine is from Penske. I think in retrospect it was very sound business decision by Robby to not do it. As for having just 1 engine, I would imagne the backup black car had an engine in it and maybe 1 in the trailer but possibly they felt the one in the car was the best of the lot.
By the way what if the the money saved on not doing a Penske engine allows Robbys budget to fund a Nationwide race on a roadcourse later in the year or a fall Talladega, etc. Then I think everyone will be happy he to took this route.

matt

agreed.

until the engine gives out sure.

I don't buy the business decision argument.......its the biggest race of the year with the most exposure.....Speed is a great drink but it will never turn into anything substantial with RG running in the back, S&Ping, or running crap motors. Look at all the exposure Dave Blaney got by being on the track.....you mean to tell that wasn't worth 50 to 100k in advertising? You have to spend money to make money, and I'm still floored they used an engine they knew was shit for the biggest race possible. Speed would be flying off the shelves today if he won or was in contention.....just saying.

spoken like somebody that doesn't have any skin in the game.Hear,Hear

Actually spoken by a very successful business man.....Hear, Hear
You made some very good points from what I read...those smaller teams get way more exposure & small sponsorship deals. Those small sponsors need to come to RGM...jus look as his racing schedule..way more exposure. Plus RGM fans are the greatest! I'm just trying to understand from both sides of the fence. I agree with the decisions Robby makes, his deal...I'm just along for the ride. Glad I follow a real driver not some fake puppet. Gas On Robby!

more successful than Robby? Have you ever had a race team?
